Hi,

I am not able to login to Cyrus server. I had created some

I can do this sort of thing for you. I work half-time for the
University of Michigan, supporting their Cyrus IMAP servers among

Re: Problems with repeated download of messages from pop3

2006-09-26 Thread Gene Rackow
Been there, tried that, well sorta anyway. My mailbox
numbers have grown to that level all on their own.

I have not seen the UID as an issue. IF Outlook gets
interrupted in any number of ways when popping a message
from the server, it has a good possibility of forgetting
what it has or what it's done. Then on the next connection
you get a repeat of all the old messages onto your client.
It doesn't matter what the UID of the message is, the failure
is all on the outlook side of things.

Ways to mess it up include any number of network blips that
temporarily disconnects the client from the server. There have
been other cases where the anti-virus on the client will trigger
on something and stop or abort the rest of the message
from downloading. Still others where the outlook files get to
big and then everything just blows up.

If you want something that is less prone to failure, you need
to get rid of Outlook, or as some line to call it "Look Out!!"

You will never get updates for outlook 97, 2000 and XP an they are widely
used, at least in developing countries. Oulook 2003 really seems not have
problems.

Yes I agree, this is not cyrus problem but Microsoft problem. But users
aren't interested in problem of Microsoft and theyr impotency to make correct
implementation of pop3 and imap client. In fact I don't expect that
Microsoft will ever be able to follow RFC rules. But until there is
somethink better than outlook, we have to live with broken client software.

According to our field support here, this bug is fixed by downloading
and applying all of the Service Pack updates. That is a really good
idea anyway so harm done.

I would like to know whether Outlook continues to have trouble after
that. If so please let us know what version has the trouble.

Cyrus is not doing anything wrong. Not only does the protocol allow
numbers to vary in length, but the example in the RFC shows numbers
of different lengths!

The problem seems be really related to length of UID of message. Occures
on maiboxes, where are messages with mixed length, like:

1.
10.

or

10.
100.

It can be probably fixed on cyrus side. I have one idea, how to fix it and
not break current mailboxes by changing UID format. If cyrus will in every
NEW mailbox start with messages number 100., there will be possible to
deliver 900 messages without changing the length of UID.

Is it good idea? Will be possible to insert new configuration parametr
like first_uid and fix the problem this way?

Problems with repeated download of messages from pop3

2006-09-26 Thread Dan Ohnesorg
Even here was many times reported, that outlook has bug, which prevents
users from using: leave message on pop3 server functionality.

The problem seems be really related to length of UID of message. Occures on
maiboxes, where are messages with mixed length, like:

1.
10.

or

10.

Will be possible to insert new configuration parametr like

Re: admin authentication

2006-09-26 Thread Marten Lehmann

Hello,

I use both LDAP and sasldb with these config lines:

* sasl_pwcheck_method: auxprop saslauthd
* sasl_auxprop_plugin: sasldb

I tried, but I couldn't get it work.

I have the following /etc/imapd.conf:

sasl_pwcheck_method:  auxprop
sasl_auxprop_plugin: sasldb2
sasldb_path: /etc/sasldb2
sasl_mech_list: LOGIN PLAIN

I also tried to with sasldb instead of sasldb2. sasldbdbusers2 shows the
right entry, but IMAP always gives:

NO Login failed: user not found

and /var/log/maillog says:

imap[3353]: badlogin: localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1] plaintext cyrusd
SASL(-13): user not found: checkpass failed

How can I debug this? Or can I test sasldb2 without cyrus somehow?

Regards
Marten

Re: Squatter not working in murder/unified environment?

Hi,

I finally investigated the problem myself and provided a patch. Here is
the bug report: https://bugzilla.andrew.cmu.edu/show_bug.cgi?id=2881

The patch is small, 6 lines, and works in my test environment (32.000
mailboxes across 2 servers):

IMAPd on AIX 5.3 / make it compile [auf Viren üb erprüft]

2006-09-26 Thread Hans Moser

Hi!

To make IMAPd compile on AIX 5.3, we have to make some changes (the same
for 2.2.12 and 2.3.7):

aix> cd $SOURCE
aix> cd cyrus-imapd-2.3.7/perl/imap
aix> Edit file ‚Makefile.PL’
'MYEXTLIB'  => '../../lib/libcyrus.a ../../lib/libcyrus_min.a’,
extend to:
'MYEXTLIB'  => '../../lib/libcyrus.a ../../lib/libcyrus_min.a
/opt/freeware/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-ibm-aix5.3.0.0/3.3.2/libgcc.a',

aix> cd $SOURCE
aix> cd cyrus-imapd-2.3.7/perl/sieve/managesieve
aix> Edit file ‘Makefile.PL’
'MYEXTLIB'  => '../lib/isieve.o ../lib/lex.o ../lib/mystring.o
../lib/request.o ../../../lib/libcyrus.a ../../../lib/libcyrus_min.a

extend to:
'MYEXTLIB'  => '../lib/isieve.o ../lib/lex.o ../lib/mystring.o
../lib/request.o ../../../lib/libcyrus.a ../../../lib/libcyrus_min.a
/opt/freeware/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-ibm-aix5.3.0.0/3.3.2/libgcc.a',

aix> cd cyrus-imapd-2.3.7
aix> Edit file ‘configure.in’

LDAP_LIBS=""
to
LDAP_LIBS="-lldap -llber"
 (two times!)

I compiled everthing (BDB, SASL, OpenLDAP) with
--prefix=/opt/mail \
--libdir=/opt/freeware/lib \
--includedir=/opt/freeware/include \

Is this realy the simplest way to get IMAPd compiled in this configuration?

Hans
