Many people use Cyrus IMAPd on RedHat 8.0. I don't know what's wrong
with your installation. The steps are usually so easy:

On a clean RedHat 8.0 system, do:
 - Rebuild cyrus imapd rpms.
 - Install the binary rpms.
 - user 'passwd cyrus' to set a cyrus admin password
 - start saslauthd with 'service saslauthd start'
 - start cyrus imapd with 'service cyrus-imapd start'
 - start managing accounts with 'cyradm --user=cyrus --auth=login
 localhost'

excellent RPM's from Simon Matter did not bring the wished effect.

Is anybody out there, having already installed Cyrus 2.1.11 on a Red
Hat 8.0 System??? Which packets did you use? I used - except
cyrus-imapd-2.1.11-src.rpm- the standard packages delivered by Red
 Hat!

 Any Help is appreciated!

 thx in advance!

Works now fine! Thx very much for ur help!

cyradm not working on a working cyrus /2.1.112.1.12

2003-02-04 Thread Grosswiler Roger
As on version 2.1.11 i get cyrus up und running without any problem -
except cyradm. A call of cyradm brings out the mentionned error msg. if i
copy shell.pm in the path, a new prompt line results, nothing happens at
all.

Does anybody know about this issue? Is there another possibility to
administer the cyrus mailboxes?

error msg:
Shell.pm not found @INC (followed by the path list...)

System: Redhat 8.0
Sasl: 2.1.11
Berkeley DB: db4 /db4 devel

Red Hat Version 8.0 - xinetd.d information

2003-01-25 Thread Grosswiler Roger
Hello to all,

Does anybody have already installed Cyrus 2.1.11 on a Red Hat 8.0? I was
trying hard to get it runnig, but no chance. Cyrus-sasl 2.1.7.2 is by
standard installed on redhat.

I made as usual my entries in /etc/services, copied normal.conf to cyrus.
conf, edited an imapd.conf, changed in /etc/xinetd.d/imapd the path to the
imapd of /usr/cyrus/bin and changed the user on cyrus...

nevertheless, i can't get it up and running a telnet on port 143 shows
just a refues of the connection, which is not the firewall, as the
standard uw-server connects without any problem

Please, i hope that somebody tells me what i have forgotten or have to do
otherwise...

Thx in advance!
Roger
