you have to build a proper cyrus.mc configuration file to include in your m4 configuration. in the cyrus doc directory if you read the documentation there are the specific m4 build cofigurations to allow sendmail to talk properly to cyrus. I include this file for you in attachment. Re: cyrus+sasl CRAM-MD5 and fetchmail
I have fetchmail which does not uses c-client I think. Any way to avoid CRAM-MD5 ? thanks Rick On Thu, 5 Apr 2001 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] asks: > > > >fetchmail has the same pine behaviour. > >How to disable the CRAM-Md5 authentication in fetchamil ?? > >which option I have to set ? > > If fetchmail uses the UW c-client, the answer is that you cannot > disable CRAM-MD5. cyrus+sasl CRAM-MD5 and fetchmail
Hello, fetchmail has the same pine behaviour. How to disable the CRAM-Md5 authentication in fetchamil ?? which option I have to set ? thanks Rick
Re: cyrus mailbox format.
I could not figure out how to confert the .seen file in the mailbox to the 2.0.* format I Was running 1.5.* before thanks Rick
cyrus mailbox format.
Are the mailbox of cyrus compatible between the various cyrus versions ?? for example 1.6.* mailboxes are compatible with cyrus 2.0.12 format ?? thanks Rick
Re: cyrus and sasl
nice. But ok I Want to force the use of imaps of course I Do not want to use plain passwords. Anyway how I can disable in the sasl library the support for CRAM-MD5 ?? is there an option when u build ??? thanks Rick On Fri, 30 Mar 2001, Rob Tanner wrote: > Not possible unless you want to mess with customizing the source code. > But you might try building SASL without CRAM-MD5 support (i.e., plain > passwords only). cyrus and sasl
is it possible to compile cyrus without sasl library support ?? my main problem is that both pine and eudora looks for sasldb password file and cram-md5 authentication before using imaps. If sasl is avaliable they won't use imaps PLAIN+TLS authentication. And eudora behave so strange. Before being able to use the STARTSSL option you have to first try the cram-md5 options then after it you can change to STARTSSL or it will never work, instead it looks for normal IMAP connection if you first don't use for the first time cram-md5. It refuses to use STARTSSL method until you first use cram-md5, it's really a bug. Rick
cram-md5 and ssl
with cyrtus installed and imap and imaps enabled on pine using the /ssl oprion it first always tries to use cram-md5 overriding imaps. There is a way to force pine to use ssl with imaps rather using the cram-md5 secrets ? That is if an user is not in the sasldb database it cannot authenticate it even if it is in the passwd file. IAlso played with pwcheck passwd shadow and PAM options in the imapd.conf file but it was not useful, pine always tries cram-md5. Only if sasldb file is not present it will use imaps. thanks Rick
imap password.
Hello, there is a way to allow user to remotely change their own imap password and doing it also it in a secure TLS/SSL way ? thanks Rick
Re: allowing only imaps.
Allrite. but my problem is different. if I disable imap from cyrus.conf I force users to use imaps and that's what I Wanted but at the same time eudora users won't be able to check for emails. Eudora does not support imaps but only Cram-MD5 and Cram-MD5 needs imap anyway, so that I have to enable both imap and imaps and I think I have no way then to configure things as I WAnted. ?? thanks Rick On Tue, 27 Mar 2001, Ken Murchison wrote: > > > rj45 wrote: > > > > There is some way with cyrus to allow only imaps authentication and forbid > > the authentication for users which try a insecure imap authentication ? > > Simply remove or comment out the "imap" service (only run a "imaps" > service). > -- > Kenneth Murchison Oceana Matrix Ltd. > Software Engineer 21 Princeton Place > 716-662-8973 x26 Orchard Park, NY 14127 > --PGP Public Key--http://www.oceana.com/~ken/ksm.pgp >
allowing only imaps.
There is some way with cyrus to allow only imaps authentication and forbid the authentication for users which try a insecure imap authentication ? thanks Rick
solution: problem with imaps on cyrus-imapd-2.0.12
I solved my problem, the certificate was not signed properly. Actually I rebuilt a new certificate with a self signature and everything wroked out. Now I have an other question. Is it possible to use the sasl password database also for the imaps and pop3s authentications ?? the saslpasswd file is used only by CRAM and DIGEST MD5 authentication so that it happens that I have a system passwd file for imaps and pop3s users and a saslpasswd file for CRAM-MD5 (eudora) users. I'd like to have all users in the saslpasswd file so that Eudora users will be forced to authenticate via CRAM-MD5 since if they try normal imap or pop3 the standard unix password won't work anymore so that they are forced to use CRAM-MD5 to being authenticated via sasl. Any idea on how I could do this ?? Then how I Can convert the unix des password in the DIGEST-MD5 format ?? Is that possible in some way?? I think it's not but anyway who knows? I Ask to you gurus. thanks Rick On Mon, 26 Mar 2001, Ken Murchison wrote: > > > rj45 wrote: > > > > After self signing and creatign a dummy certificate I got this error when > > I try to access to imaps from a client. > > This is the error on the cyrus server: > > > > Mar 26 17:52:36 factotum imapd[62569]: TLS engine: cannot load CA data > > Mar 26 17:52:36 factotum imapd[62569]: starttls: TLSv1 with cipher > > (NONE) (0/0 bits) no authentication > > > > help pls, any clue ? > > Try adding these options (with appropriate paths) to imapd.conf: > > tls_ca_file: /var/ssl/certs/server.pem > tls_ca_path: /var/ssl/certs > > > > On Mon, 26 Mar 2001, Ken Murchison wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > rj45 wrote: > > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > I have always used stunnel to make imaps work. > > > > Now since the new imaps and pop3s features where added I WAnted to try > > > > them. > > > > But now if a clients connects using imaps the client gets an error to > > > > being impossible to establish the ssl connection. Re: problem with imaps on cyrus-imapd-2.0.12
After self signing and creatign a dummy certificate I got this error when I try to access to imaps from a client. This is the error on the cyrus server: Mar 26 17:52:36 factotum imapd[62569]: TLS engine: cannot load CA data Mar 26 17:52:36 factotum imapd[62569]: starttls: TLSv1 with cipher (NONE) (0/0 bits) no authentication help pls, any clue ? thanks Rick On Mon, 26 Mar 2001, Ken Murchison wrote: > > > rj45 wrote: > > > > Hello, > > I have always used stunnel to make imaps work. > > Now since the new imaps and pop3s features where added I WAnted to try > > them. > > But now if a clients connects using imaps the client gets an error to > > being impossible to establish the ssl connection. how to change password ?
Is it possible to make users change their own password ? is there some cyrus tool to do this ? thanks Rick
problem with imaps on cyrus-imapd-2.0.12
Hello, I have always used stunnel to make imaps work. Now since the new imaps and pop3s features where added I WAnted to try them. But now if a clients connects using imaps the client gets an error to being impossible to establish the ssl connection. The imaps port is open but no ssl connection can be established. I got this error in the cyrus server log files: Mar 26 12:38:25 factotum imapd[51746]: imaps: required OpenSSL options not present Mar 26 12:38:26 factotum /kernel: pid 51746 (imapd), uid 60: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) How I can fix this porblem ?? I run cyrus on FreeBSD 4.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.2-RELEASE#0: Mon Nov 20 13:02:55 GMT 2000 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386 thanks a lot Rick
