You shouldnt create folders like yuo do. AFAIK They've to be in the mailbox.db
too. Use cyradm or the Perl-Modules. I believe you've to reconstruct the mb
now.

In my mail client (KMail) i saw the new folder after a resync with the server.
I found that if you're using virtual domains you've to create

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

to see it with your client.

Login as administrative user (f.e.):
cyradm --user admin-user --auth login hostname
Create a folder:
hostname> cm public
List the Access control list for this Mailbox
hostname> lam public
anyone lrs

Try ? to see commands to change/give the rights.

first you've to get the right to delete. Do this as cyrus-administrator
(admin) to get all rights:

sam foobar admin all
dm foobar

should work.

Maybe this help (But this looks like a pf question). I'm using postfix 2.1.4.
It supports virtual domains.
create inside main.cf:
virtual_transport = lmtp:unix:/var/imap/socket/lmtp
virtual_mailbox_domains = beispiel.test sample.check
virtual_mailbox_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual
virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual_alias

Inside 'virtual_mailbox_maps' u write f.e.:
@beispiel.testegal
@sample.check equal

Inside 'virtual_alias':
[EMAIL PROTECTED]   [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

With cyradm u'v 2 create:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

These are virtual users!

I've made an entry ("usegroup") in postfix so mail go to cyrus. Then an dummy
entry ("user.usegroup") is needet to put s sieve-script which is moving all
mail to the usegroup-folder. I hope someone knows a better way. But it works
fine.

Your user is downloading (and removing) all mails into the client, so no one
is staying in spool or elsewhere. Your backup gets only the data after
downloading to the  client.

If I'm using 'lm' (as admin user) I could see ALL mailboxes! Maybe you've not
the rights to see all? Are you logged in as the admin (/etc/imapd.conf) of
the cyrus-imap?

AFAIK this is an IMAP command. You can use it if your using 'imtest' or telnet
f.e. AFTER authentification (as admin). You can't use them inside cyradm

AFAIK this (Bad IPREMOTEPORT )is a problem with mixed SASL version (1.x/2.x)
e.g. Postfix with 1.x and cyrus with 2.x or cyrus with both ;-(

Konqueror is able to do that.

AFAIK only IMAP is competent to offer shared folders.
You can create them with cyradm.

I'm using pf 2.0.16 with cyrus-imap 2.1.15. postfix translate with its virtual
table the [EMAIL PROTECTED] -> user1_domain_tld ... .
In cyrus i create accounts like user1_domain_tld ... . This way i'm supporting
serveral domains.

BTW maybe we should have a look at cyrus-imap 2.2.3, because of its new
virtual domain support ;-)

peace & luck
