Dear List, I have been using cyrus rpms provided by invoca.ch. The version being used is; cyrus-imapd-debuginfo-2.4.17-6.el6.x86_64 cyrus-imapd-devel-2.4.17-6.el6.x86_64 cyrus-imapd-utils-2.4.17-6.el6.x86_64 cyrus-imapd-2.4.17-6.el6.x86_64 I am using Horde groupware webmail edition and I am facing issues with mails composed with High Priority. Please look at the thread http://lists.horde.org/archives/imp/Week-of-Mon-20130819/055306.html As per the developer of Horde: *It's entirely dependent on the order the IMAP server returns the IMAP flags. The problem is that both 'unseen' and 'high priority' have the same CSS importance. CSS only allows a binary determination of what is "important". Thus, 2 or more rules with labeled important necessarily need to overwrite each other in either a FIFO or LIFO manner. Writing code to get around this would be prohibitively expensive and not worth it - especially since "priority" is not even a real, recognized flag. michael* Can anybody clarify on this from Cyrus IMAPd server view? -- anant athavale. bangalore Cyrus Home Page: http://www.cyrusimap.org/ List Archives/Info: http://lists.andrew.cmu.edu/pipermail/info-cyrus/ To Unsubscribe: https://lists.andrew.cmu.edu/mailman/listinfo/info-cyrus

Hello, I had a cyrus installation running that worked perfectly. After a crash of a hard drive I had to reinstall the system. The hard drive contained the cyrus installation. However, the cyrus "partition-default" was on a different hard drive. I reinstalled cyrus with the "partition-default" as before. The user mailbox can be seen in cyradmin [user.paul (\HasChildren)]. However all subfolders exept user.paul.Drafts, user.paul.Mülleimer, user.paul.Versendete_Nachrichten can NOT be seen. The directories and the messages in the storage partion under /var/spool/imap/user/paul/ are all there. With a squirrelmail I do see all messages in INBOX and I do see the three subfolders. However, the subfolders are being shown to be empty. The files in the corresponding directories exist. I did a reconstruct -r with the cyrus admin allready, however I still would have the data as they were after the hard drive crash. Is there anybody who can help to get the old subfolders and messages back? Hi there, I got an unusual problem with sync_client. I am running two machines with cyrus-imapd 2.3.14, let's call them primary and secondary. I ususally have syncserver_allowplaintext: 0 set on the secondary so sync_client on the primary will connect using TLS. This worked fine until a few weeks ago. I am monitoring the sync_client on primary via a daemon to see if it's running and suddenly got noticed that sync_client died. Checking the problem I found out that all of a sudden the sync_client wouldn't connect using TLS anymore. I didn't change anything on either of the machines, the only thing that happend that morning was a problem with our DNS server. The funny thing is that synctest is working using TLS but when I try to run sync_client with TLS I get a Segmentation fault. Using strace I can see that sync_client connects to secondary and gets the greeting from secondary. After that it gets an SIGSEGV. This is not related to the certificates, these have not changed and are still valid. Greets! I am researching lemonade compliance and what email servers may be able to support key extensions, especially RFC 5465 - IMAP NOTIFY. As it stands, no support appears to be available from any vendor. Cyrus 2.4 looks like it will support much of the new lemonade functionality, but little information has been made available. Can anyone shed light on when we might expect a 2.4 or lemonade-oriented release and what might be included? Thanks! Hi list, I am attempting to install cyrus-imapd-2.3.11 and cyrus-sasl-2.1.22 from the ports library on FreeBSD 6.3. I am using the CMU document at http://cyrusimap.web.cmu.edu/imapd/install.html (and the contents links) as an install guide. Perl 5.8.8 and BDB 4.6 were installed prior to starting the install of the Cyrus ports. The BDB option was selected for both packages. For the imapd install, AUTH OTP was de-selected. Both DIGEST-MD5 and CRAM-MD5 were selected. The make & install run and complete properly for both packages. Everything appears proper until I run cyradm. I can run saslpasswd2, sasldbuserslist2, telnet to imapd, etc. But when I run imtest to test the login, in the "S" line, I get the notice "LOGINDISABLED" rather than a list of accepted authentication methods and am unable to log into imap regardless of the sasl pwcheck method or mech list in imapd.conf. I am migrating my 200 users from a RHAS3 cyrus-imapd-2.2.3 install to a RHAS5 cyrus-imapd-2.3.7 install. I have been happy with the current setup with the exception of issues with the Berkeley DB for mailboxes and deliver. Recovering a corrupt maiboxes.db has been extememly slow, taking on the order of 6hrs to recover from the flat file dump. On occasion I have had to delete the deliver.db and restart. Reading through many posts, is there any reason to not use skiplist for all the databases? Although I have 200 users, at any given time, only half are actively using their account. Our traffic is light for the most part. The 2.3.7 defaults as listed in "man impad.conf" seem to indicate that berkeley-nosync is used for duplicate and tlscache and berkeley for ptscache(?) Flatfile for subscription and quotalegacy for quota. This will be a single server with a single replica. Are there any issues with not using skiplist for all under this setup? thanks SWaltz Cyrus Home Page: http://cyrusimap.web.cmu.edu/ Cyrus Wiki/FAQ: http://cyrusimap.web.cmu.edu/twiki List Archives/Info: http://asg.web.cmu.edu/cyrus/mailing-list.html

Hi! I'm new to all this, but don't you need to create the actual mailbox using cyradm too? cyradm -user localhost createmailbox [EMAIL PROTECTED] saslpasswd2 only adds passwords if I understand this correctly. Your successful check ("user test") tells you that your localhost (mow.strs.ru) has a mailbox by the name "test", so "user [EMAIL PROTECTED]" would probably be successful too. Hi,We have 3 backends with Cyrus 2.2.13, 1 MTA with Postfix and Cyrus Frontend 2.2.13, and 1 Cyrus Master Mupdate with 2.2.13.The frontend database is not always synchronizing when mupdate database changes.e.g.: on the backend we create a new cyrus mailbox with a "Sent" folder. In that case the frontend will only be informed of the existance of the "Sent" folder. On the backend:/usr/sbin/ctl_mboxlist -dexample.com!user.test default [EMAIL PROTECTED] lrswipcdaexample.com!user.test.Sent default [EMAIL PROTECTED] lrswipcdaOn the mupdate master:/usr/sbin/ctl_mboxlist -dexample.com!user.test 1 server3!default [EMAIL PROTECTED] lrswipcdaexample.com!user.test.Sent 1 server3!default [EMAIL PROTECTED] lrswipcdaOn the frontend:/usr/sbin/ctl_mboxlist -dexample.com!user.test.Sent 1 server3!default [EMAIL PROTECTED] lrswipcdaIn this example the frontend database never fully synchronizes with the mupdate master until the frontend is restarted. This occurs on 50% of the trials. There are no error messages. Hi, timsieved allows to use different users for authentication and authorization, and this works fine e.g. when setting sieve rules with the cyrus administrator. But is there any way to set finer grained ACLs, i.e. to allow other users access to my sieve rules via IMAP ACLs or some such? I didn't find anything in the docs or the wiki. Jan. Hello, I'm trying to configure Cyrus imap v 2.2.12 with SSL. It works ok when using a self signed certificate that is in pem format. But, when I configure it to use the certificate we purchased from Comodo, I have problems. I am testing the key using the command "openssl s_client -connect foobar:993", and I get an "unknown protocol" error. I ran the openssl command in debug mode, and at the same time ran tcpflow on the imap server. The tcpflow has a message "enter PEM passphrase". When I created the private key and csr I had to enter a passphrase because it wouldn't let me keep it null. Could this be part of the problem? How do I fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm new to imap and ssl. Below is some output that may be helpful: This is the command I'm using to test the certificate and the error that I get: [EMAIL PROTECTED] certs]# openssl s_client -connect foobar:993 CONNECTED(0003) 24518:error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23 _GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_cl nt.c:475: This is output of the openssl command in debug mode, and the tcpflow: [EMAIL PROTECTED] certs]# openssl s_client -debug -connect foobar:993 CONNECTED(0003) write to 0907B310 [0907B358] (142 bytes => 142 (0x8E)) - 80 8c 01 03 01 00 63 00-00 00 20 00 00 39 00 00 ..c... ..9.. 0010 - 38 00 00 35 00 00 16 00-00 13 00 00 0a 07 00 c0 8..5 0020 - 00 00 33 00 00 32 00 00-2f 03 00 80 00 00 66 00 ..3..2../.f. 0030 - 00 05 00 00 04 01 00 80-08 00 80 00 00 63 00 00 .c.. 0040 - 62 00 00 61 00 00 15 00-00 12 00 00 09 06 00 40 b..a...@ 0050 - 00 00 65 00 00 64 00 00-60 00 00 14 00 00 11 00 ..e..d..`... 0060 - 00 08 00 00 06 04 00 80-00 00 03 02 00 80 c8 ee 0070 - 81 dc 07 4f 07 79 10 0f-a3 a0 5a 84 ca 3b b0 05 ...O.yZ..;.. 0080 - 22 fc c8 b6 75 ee 2b 9a-1c 79 46 51 13 4e "...u.+..yFQ.N read from 0907B310 [090808B8] (7 bytes => 7 (0x7)) - 45 6e 74 65 72 20 50 Enter P 25977:error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_clnt.c:475: [EMAIL PROTECTED] etc]# tcpflow -i eth0 -c tcp and port 993 tcpflow[5999]: listening on eth0 123.45.67.89.35902-123.45.67.90.00993: ..c... ..9..8..5 .3..2../[EMAIL PROTECTED] 123.45.67.90.00993-123.45.67.89.35902: Enter PEM pass phrase: My /etc/imapd.conf file contains these lines: tls_cert_file: /usr/share/ssl/certs/imap-server.crt tls_key_file: /usr/share/ssl/certs/imap-server.key tls_ca_file: /usr/share/ssl/certs/ca-bundle.crt Thanks! hi there! i am using cyrus, postfix mail. i am having problems for checking users mail password from the mysql db. i was doing it previously, my db and mail was in the same server. but i wanna move the db to a different server now. i have done the following things, * added an user in mysql for the mail server * changed the imapd.conf accordingly but it failed to connect the database. most surprisingly it is communicating the local db provided the local mysqld is running and it is checking password from the local db. how is that possible?!! i am sending u the copy of my imapd.conf, - configdirectory: /var/lib/imap partition-default: /var/spool/imap admins: cyrus sievedir: /var/lib/imap/sieve sendmail: /usr/sbin/sendmail hashimapspool: true tls_cert_file: /var/lib/imap/cyrus-imapd.pem tls_key_file: /var/lib/imap/cyrus-imapd.pem tls_ca_file: /var/lib/imap/ca-bundle.crt allowplaintext: yes sasl_mech_list: PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5 # Do NOT ENABLE THE FOLLOWING LINE servername: mail.accesstel.net autocreatequota: 0 reject8bit: no quotawarn: 90 timeout: 30 poptimeout: 10 dracinterval: 0 drachost: localhost sieve_maxscriptsize: 32 sieve_maxscripts: 5 sasl_pwcheck_method: auxprop saslauthd #auxprop_plugin: sql sasl_auto_transition: yes sasl_sql_engine: mysql sasl_sql_user: myuser sasl_sql_passwd: mypass sasl_sql_hostname: 192.168.70.139:3306 sasl_sql_database: radius sasl_sql_select: SELECT Value FROM radcheck WHERE UserName = 'u' and Attribute = 'User-Password' sasl_sql_insert: INSERT INTO radcheck (UserName, Attribute, Value, op) VALUES ('u', 'User-Password', 'v', ':=') sasl_sql_update: UPDATE radcheck SET Value = 'v' WHERE UserName = 'u' and Attribute = 'User-Password' sasl_sql_verbose: yes #unixhierarchysep: yes #altnamespace: yes #userprefix: pop2.accesstel.net #loginrealms: pop2.accesstel.net #foolstupidclients: yes would u please tell me how to solve the problem? hoping to hear from u soon. thanking u in advance. monsurul amin access telecom bd ltd --- Cyrus Home Page: http://asg.web.cmu.edu/cyrus Cyrus Wiki/FAQ: http://cyruswiki.andrew.cmu.edu List Archives/Info: http://asg.web.cmu.edu/cyrus/mailing-list.html

Has anybody a > better link collection? > > Thank you > Matthias > Don't think of it as integrating Cyrus with Outlook. You're integrating a protocol (IMAP OR POP) with Outlook. All you do when adding the account (which you have to do for all email accounts) is specify the correct protocol and point it to your server (i.e. mail.domain.com). Outlook's help will inform you on how to connect to an IMAP or POP server. Now if you've done that, but are having issues with authentication, then that's a different issue. Additionally, you can configure where to store sent items (outlook defaults to local sent mail folders). I changed the default and stored them in my account's sent folder. Hi I am deploying a cyrus server for my second time. The first time was great. This time I wanted to learn more about disaster recovery. I am using the simon matter rpm 2.2.3-8 confugured with virtdomain: support. As a test I deleted the cyrus.* files from a mailbox I thought that I may be able to run su -l cyrus "/usr/lib/recontruct -r -f" but this did not rebuild the cyrus.* files and the mailbox was considered corrupt. After copying the cyrus.* files from another directory and running the recontruct command, everything worked fine. I have googled and read the docs but have not seen much docs regarding this and other types of disaster recovery. Hi there, I have cyrus installed along with sendmail. Now I recieved hundreds of equal emails. The result is, that I cant acdess my inbox anymore. My email client tells me 400 emails in the inbox, but cant access the headers because the server is down. It is not, I can access all other email folders but not the inbox. A local client (horde) just says 0 emails. and it cant read new emails on the box. /var/adm/imapd.log says the following: Nov 10 16:14:54 p15091666 imapd[25690]: seen_db: user andy opened /var/imap/user/a/andy.seen Nov 10 16:14:54 p15091666 imapd[25690]: open: user andy opened INBOX Nov 10 16:14:54 p15091666 master[307]: process 25690 exited, signaled to death by 7 How can I fix this? Hardware is ok, this is just I think a database problem of cyrus. Has anybody an idea how to get back to normal with keeping all my emails? Thanx for any help on that! Hello List, I have some problems to get compiled sendmail-8.12.9 with SALS2.0.9. First, my POP and IMAP users (cyrus-imap) are authenticating against sasldb2 database, using saslauthd and master daemon, that i mean is that sasl is working fine. Second, sendmail compiling proccess don´t fail while is compile with SALS libraries, but after that, if you type senmail -d0.1 -bt < /dev/null , SASL string dosen´t appear. I have sals2 lib into /usr/lib/sasl2/lib and i can´t find include file for sasl2, where i can´t find that ?. are the same files that sasl1? I´m compiling sendmail with the folowing command. sh Build -c -L/usr/local/bdb/lib -I/usr/local/bdb/include -L/usr/lib/sasl2/lib -I/usr/local/lib/sasl/include This proccess finish ok, but sasl2 is not compiled with sendmail. Can any one advise about my possible mistake? Thank in advanced Danny García Hernández HELIO YAGO S.L. http://www.g2k.es e-mail:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Tlf: (96) 363 43 17 Fax: (96) 390 27 17

Hello you all, this mail is to inform those intrested that I've started a new project - so far named 'vdac' - intended to become a web based administration tool for Postfix+Cyrus. The project is still in early stage, but already working for my mailserver. It currently supports and follows the criteria below: - Mainly it supposes a postfix/Cyrus installation, both with mysql support. - Two types of users: administrator, domain master. Administators have full right on the whole thing; domain masters have full rights on assigned domains, they can create cyrus users, build virtual tables. - Domain masters limits are based on the amount of (cyrus-)users they can create and on the amount of external aliases they can put in the virtual table. Quotas they can assign can be limited as well. - It fully supports Cyrus and Amavisd(with per user preferences) so far. Very next step will be support for IMP (expecially cyrus-user preferences) Next - very soon - steps are: support for secondary MX administration, integrity and sanity checks, ghost domains and canonical tables (for Administrators only). The whole thing is written - so far - in only php, but things may change. I'm writing this mail in order to get - eventual - feedbacks and requests, mainly, but I am also trying to see if someone is intrested in helping me out. Specifically to this list: I am searching someone that might want to give me a hand to cope with the differences between releases of cyrus, as I am only using 2.1.x versions so far and will need some help to make the thinh work with 2.2.x The whole thing WILL be open source in a next future, but the first releases - if someone will want to download them and try them :) - will be given out in 'zend-compiled' form. The whole idea came out, of course, from Webcyradm, even thou this has already become something very different. Screenshots are available at: http://vdac.cappelleri.net/shots/ Access to the system can be given upon request, if intrested in this early stage developement. No demo accounts exist, since the only copy of it is running live with my domains on :) Thank you for your attention. - This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/

But I couldn't find any documentation as to how these files are created and how I could use them to restore mailboxes. Anyone can give me some ideas how they work or point me to some resources where I can get to know how? Best Regards, Daniel Qian

Hi, I'm running cyrus-imapd-2.1.12 with sendmail 8.12.9. I have an issue where lmtpd seems to refuse connections. This behaviour seems to occur when a large volume of mail is delivered to the box. I notice that there is an lmtpd process fo each message that is being delivered so if i send a few hundred emails i get a few hundred ltmpd processes. Is this normal ? I have specified FEATURE(local_lmtp) in sendmail.mc and have the following in my cyrus.conf file. lmtpunix cmd="lmtpd" listen="/var/imap/socket/lmtp" prefork=0 The error in my maillog is: Apr 5 10:00:55 myserver sm-mta[58837]: h3500t9u058768: SYSERR(root): Could not connect to socket /var/imap/socket/lmtp: Connection refused by localhost Can anyone offer any advice ? I am currently in the process of setting up mail services. I am trying to decide which IMAP server to run, either Cyrus or UW. I intend to run the server on a PIII 700 w/ 256meg RAM w/ Red Hat 7.2. There will be approximately 100 users of the system. I will need to be able to offer web client access. I would like to provide mailbox sharing. However I would like to be able to do procmail type filtering. A major concern of mine is DR. My questions are: How difficult is the server to initially setup? Are there any known problems w/ running it on Red Hat? Do I need more processor power or memory to run the server efficiently? How different is sieve from procmail? Can anyone suggest any web based clients? Am I nuts for trying to do this w/ Cyrus? Thanks for any advice in advance. Rob Gault [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm in the process of testing a Cyrus IMAP installation for rollout at my company. So far, I've had little difficulty with it -- in fact, it's up and I'm using both the IMAP and POP servers without any problems. Howerver, I'm now trying to test the quota functionality, and am running into some problems. I've set "quotawarn: 90" in imapd.conf, and used cyradm to set my quota (on the user. mailbox) to a relatively low value. I watched my mailbox fill up to about 95%. I then launched MS Outlook (2000) and connected to the IMAP server... and didn't see any warning message. I was under the impression from the documentation that the server should have been generating warning messages in this case. I also did not see anything in my imap log files. Is this a client issue? Does Outlook not communicate correctly with Cyrus IMAP? Or am I missing something simple? Thanks for any informtion, --kip p.s. you could also try Eudora. i am using it for ages, and love the search capability. also, it is free, and support multi users, pop/imap mime, and much much more. the only down size is the it has problems with outlook rtf (the default way for outlook to send it messages). ronen At 12:37 AM 9/15/2001, you wrote: Evil Azrael wrote: > But knows anybody a good client for Windows? There are various options now to turn off JavaScript et al, and it's protocol support is OK (supports off-line use, supports SSL, supports S-MIME). It's not particularly well-behaved though, in that it opens a new connection for every folder that it synchronizes :-( Some people report good things about Mulberry, although I find it poor in the usability stakes. Mozilla has a good IMAP client that works well under all platforms that Mozilla supports, including Windows.

Hi all, I am using the newest version of cyrus. The performance is pretty good and thanks for all the efforts the developers have given. Some questions I would like to ask, 1) Can the login name contain "." (dot) , like "Bob.Chau" ? 2) Can the login name contain more than 8 characters ? 3) Are there any web-based tools for administration? Thanks and regards, Boris

Hi. I'm trying to install 2.0.12 on Redhat 7.0 with warious progress. Right now I'm struggling with sieve: My /etc/imapd.conf has sieveusehomedir: true sasl_pwcheck_method: PAM When I execute sieveshell I get: $ sieveshell -u nisse localhost connecting to localhost Bad protocol from MANAGESIEVE server: EOL2 with the following in the syslog: timsieved[8147]: can't use home directories Sounds weird to me, but I change sieveusehomedir to false, set sievedir and try again: $ sieveshell -u nisse localhost connecting to localhost Please enter your password: b unable to connect to server: Authentication error at /usr/bin/sieveshell line 149, line 1. Am I missing something? /Martin
