mine shows:

checking whether byte ordering is bigendian... no


What's your level of comfort with C debugging?  It'd be very helpful to see a 
core file+binary from the time that lseek error occurs?

It kinda sounds like your platform might be 32bit? Or your zlib is compiled to 
use 32bit integer sizes?
