RE: [info-tech] MS lawsuit ICN meetings

2009-11-04 Thread Pearson, Jeremy
I wonder if this meeting is specific to the reporting and evaluation of
your project???

That was about all that was indicated about an upcoming meeting. We
will just have to wait and see I guess.

Thanks for the heads up.

Jeremy

I had email about November meetings, deleted it. Contacted John
O'Connell, he said there are meeting on the 16,18,19 of November. He
also mentioned he is waiting on a conference call concerning the final
dollar count.

Off to teacher development, gotta go,

Are you renewing Sophos from the IEC site?

You may look at Lightspeed and bundle AV, and Content Filtering plus
other options into one product.

I agree that there should be consequences. BUT when you move to a 1:1
consequences need to be altered a little. It takes something VERY
major for me to consider taking away a kids laptop. Now do I take

For those of you that kick kids off the Internet for violating
your AUP, what do you do for "school related access" for projects,
research, etc? We use LightSpeed for content filtering which will block
their access, but we still want a way to let them on in a very monitored
environment. Any suggestions? Right now, we have a few computers in our
library with static IP addresses and then a policy applied to those IP
addresses, and that works, but didn't know if there was a better way to
do it.

RE: [info-tech] LightSpeed / Internet Violations

2009-11-04 Thread Frerichs, Chad
Okoboji revokes their privileges for the regular school day 8am - 3pm.
So, they can come in before or after school to complete computer related
work. We also have certain circumstances where a student needs access
just for a certain time during the day. For instance they are taking a
computer apps class. I utilize the Logon Hours in Active Directory to
accomplish both things. It isn't perfect (i.e. it only lets you do it on
the hour), but it works ok.

If a student violated the AUP and have either their Internet

they are well aware of those consequences.
