[info-tech] Check in software

2010-06-29 Thread Mitch Mueller
What do you guys out there do for checking in computers? We are looking at
creating tags for our computers but I would like a check in program and
scanner so I can make sure we still have everything around still.

Mitch:

I've been using scanners for some time and would be willing to show
you what I use for commercial applications like seed corn dealers. I would use
ACCESS for the program because it has become a very mature product and
relatively easy to use. I've written many ACCESS applications and you're
welcome to use and modify them to fit your needs. Right now I have the time and
would be glad to help you out if you're willing to come to POKY.

Have you thought of your library software? Barcodes already in place, as well
as scanners. Personally I haven't done this yet...bit an equipment category-
and then enter sn, price, piece of equipment-would e easy to do.

I really wouldn't get too complicated, write up a database and snag
any old barcode scanner, and Bob's your uncle.
