Beth,
It only takes one MAC connected using SMB to lockout JMC for others.
Disconnect all MACs from JMC and connect them backup one at a time with a
afp connection afp://IPADDRESS to the server.

When Jason says use AFP - when you login on to the server be sure to  
put afp://ip address for server to connect to JMC.


I use that format when I connect a Mac to a server.

rather than a SMB connection. See if that helps. I am pulling from memory,
but I think JMC has a problem with Macs connecting via a SMB share. The Mac
locks the files from anyone else using them. I think if you go through an
