Re: [EMERGENCY FREEZE BREAK] Temporarily fix fedorapeople.org SSL cert
DNS validation needs someone (or a DNS plugin for Certbot) to add a DNS record each time the certificate renews (by default Certbot renews 30 days before expiration. This works very well if your DNS provider is supported by one of certbot's plugins, but not as well if you have to update it manually. I'm not sure if there is a way to integrate it into our current DNS setup. Re: [EMERGENCY FREEZE BREAK] Temporarily fix fedorapeople.org SSL cert
I don't think we can (easily) make it keep renewing the Let's Encrypt cert, as LE requires DNS validation for wildcard certs. I did the validation manually. fedorapeople.org's wildcard SSL cert expired. Re: Freeze break request: disable fedmsg-irc bots in most channels
+1 On 2021-09-23 16:09, Kevin Fenzi wrote: Currently, the fedmsg-irc role connects a number of IRC bots to libera.chat IRC. (Usually 2 per channel, one for production and one for staging). These bots then send fedmsgs that match a specific regex to the channel they are in. As part of setting up matrix rooms and bridging them to IRC, we have realized how noisy these bots tend to be. In almost all cases the tickets/message/event is sent to people who care about it via email or personal FMN notification, so the message in the channel is just noise. Additionally, these fedmsg-irc bots don't have a ton of flexability in what they match on, for example if you say 'perhaps we should add a badge for this' in a ticket, it will then forever notify the #fedora-badges channel about any changes to that ticket. Additionally, fedmsg-irc is python2 and tied to fedmsg (not fedora-messaging). If we can get rid of all use of them that saves us some replacement costs. So, I would like to drop all these bots, except for #fedora-fedmsg and #fedora-fedmsg-stg. I personally think those channels are useful as you can watch the bus flow and tell things about it's health and see overall changes you might not otherwise notice. They might be replaceable by a more simple bot someday. Of course there may be some use case I am not seeing here, so if you _DO_ want these messages in your channel/room still, please tell us! Or if there's some other set of messages that would be of use that would be good to know too, so we could take it into account when/if we work on a matrix bot. Re: Projects under github.com/fedora-infra
I forked ssh-gpg-smartcard-config a while back before I got access to herlo's repo so I could update it. Now I have commit access to herlo's repo, so it may be unnecessary to have our fork (although I don't see what it hurts). I would like to look and see if the fedora-infra repo is linked to anywhere before we delete it. Yubikeys for Fedora developers
Yubico is giving us 20 free Yubikeys. These are primarily intended for people helping with the two factor authentication project although if we have some extra we may be giving them away to members of sysadmin groups having sudo on our machines. If you would like to be considered to receive one of these, please email n...@fedoraproject.org with your mailing address and a short explanation of why you need one and/or what you plan to do with one. GPG keysigning event at FUDCon Blacksburg 2012 (and CAcert Assurance Event)
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 We are planning a GPG Key Signing event at FUDCon Blacksburg, which will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 1600 (4pm). If you are interested in participating, please add your info to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Blacksburg_2012_GPG_Key_Signing_Event so we can compile a list of participants and keys. So far we have 22 keys signed up and we hope to have even more. That wiki page also has more information about how we will conduct the event. I intend to print copies of the GPG key list on either Monday or Tuesday, I will probably be waiting until Tuesday, but please sign up as early as you can. I will also publish on my fedorapeople site a gpg signed copy of the key list. The current version is at http://nb.fedorapeople.org/keys.pdf and the signature will be at http://nb.fedorapeople.org/keys.pdf.asc after the final list is generated. If you don't get signed up in time, you can still participate, just bring printed slips with the output of 'gpg --fingerprint YOURKEYID' printed on them to hand out at the event. We will also be hosting a CAcert assurance event immediately following/in conjunction with the GPG keysigning event. Please see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Blacksburg_2012_CAcert_Assurance_Event for more information and a place to sign up for that. We will have enough assurers present for you to receive well over the 100 points that you need in order to qualify to become an assurer yourself. Please note that if you intend to participate in the CAcert event, the name in your government issued photo ID must match the name recorded in your CAcert account. For more information on either event, feel free to contact me at n...@fedoraproject.org or n...@cacert.org Thanks and see you at FUDCon! [CHANGE REQUEST] Move to new Publican 2.0-generated docs.fedoraproject.org site
Thanks to Rudi Landmann's hard work, the Publican-2.0 generated version of the docs.fedoraproject.org site is now ready to be deployed. We (the docs team) would really like to get this up before the Fedora 13 release. This will be a usability and visual improvement, as well as making it so that docs authors no longer have to manually edit html to add a new document or a new release, etc. This will be handled by Publican. I am asking for 2 +1's for the following patches, all are to puppet/modules/fedora-docs/files/fedora-docs-proxy.conf: [PATCH] Add /public_html onto the end of DocumentRoot [PATCH] Indexes are not needed for docs.fedoraproject.org [PATCH] Redirect 404s to the root for docs.fedoraproject.org [PATCH] Remove old rewrites which are no longer needed The other (main) part of the change is merging the Publican-2.0 branch of /git/docs/web.git into master The new site is up at http://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org if anyone wants to see it. Re: blogs.fedoraproject.org and planet
I apologize, I will look at these patches tonight. Possibility of Fedora sponsoring a Freenode server
What is everyone's thoughts about us sponsoring a Freenode server? Their general requirements are noted on http://freenode.net/hosting_ircd.shtml and I've discussed them with mmcgrath and he has said they seem doable, probably on telia1 or osuosl1. Basically we'd be providing them a xen guest with about 1.5 or 2 GB ram, client servers should expect to sustain around 1Mbps of traffic, with much higher peaks. Total usage for client servers is usually around 320 gigabytes per month, while hidden hubs are generally much lower overall. We'd be giving them at least a user account on it, they prefer sudo if possible. They handle the day-to-day administering of the ircd, either scp'ing new binaries or compiling the ircd on the server itself, and copying new config files to there. I've talked to their sponsor liaison and they seem to be interested. Mike and I wanted to discuss it on here before I send the actual "proposal" email. I think it would be a good idea, especially since we use them so much for our IRC channels, it'd be nice to contribute a server back to the network.
