Re: [Inkscape-docs] jabber? also communities on Chat Now page
Brynn, Deleting Jabber references is confirmed. I'm not sure about the other content as I've not been able to follow it all closely. I'll defer for now. [Inkscape-docs] jabber? also communities on Chat Now page
Hi again, The other day, I think it was Martin who said to get rid of info or references to Jabber, or something like that. I just came across a couple of instances, but now I don't remember what the instructions were. And I can't seem to find the message about it. One is on the new Community page, which I'll fix over on staging. In both places, it's just the words "and Jabber", that I guess should be deleted? The other is the current Chat Now page, under Inkscape Development Online Discussion > IRC > end of 2nd sentence. Also, I think I mentioned this a while ago. Under the chat applet is International and Local Communities section, which links to the wiki page. I have transferred all that info from the wiki page (and updated) to the Learn page. Once 0.91 is released, it will be on the Communities page. Any objections to me deleting the International and Local Communities section? And regarding Jabber, I guess I'll delete "and Jabber", in the next section below? Thanks, brynn -- New Year. New Location. New Benefits. New Data Center in Ashburn, VA. [Inkscape-docs] new Contribute and Develop pages ready
Hi Everyone, These pages have basically the same content as before, but just rearranged, so that the page structure mirrors the sub-menu structure (or vice versa). Of course, since I started them on staging, AND started before we discussed always using the django plugin for making links, I'll have to fix all the links once I transfer the content (from staging to live). (partly off topic, but using the link plugins will put a kink in the process of using the staging site to make drafts of pages, like I have, for the several pages I've worked on) Anyway, if you'd like to review that I got everything right, and didn't forget anything. Here is new Contribute: http://staging.inkscape.org/en/brynns-contribute/?edit_off, and Here is new Develop: http://staging.inkscape.org/en/brynnsdev/?edit_off. Here's my plan: -- transfer the content, from staging to live pages -- fix all the links -- publish -- move Bug Management sub-menu item to the bottom If we ever get guides for writing documentation and/or extensions, those would go below Bug Mgmt, at least for the time being. I do realize that larger changes may be on the way, if Matthew's structure is adopted. But at least for now, this will be a little improvement. (Also partly off topic -- if Matthew's structure is adopted, which removes 1 whole main menu item and sub-menu, maybe the Gallery could go into the main menu? Maybe it's just me, but I think the Gallery needs top billing :-) ) Ok then. Please let me know if any changes are needed to these pages, and when I can go ahead with the transfer. [Inkscape-docs] Inkscape Website
Hi Docs List, The website team is going to be joining this mailing list to keep track of website work. It's mostly talking about content issues as the technical stuff goes to bug reports. The idea of joining everything here means we can make the docs really consistent between the generated docs, the website and/or other educational content. Please welcome Maren Hachman (web-development/qa), Brynn (content/editing), Mathew Wong (content design) and Hinerangi Courtenay (visual design/branding) I'm Martin Owens, web developer and central node. :-) Please post a reply if you're interested in joining the website work and/or getting the docs for 0.91 on the website. Re: [Inkscape-docs] re Documentation section of Develop page
Hello Brynn, Mathew made contact with the others not long after myself – he is also a designer, so we'll be working together to redesign the website. Mathew has made a start on wireframes and a revised site map (linked to by Maren), and I have started on the general design direction (https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/5498/). If it interests you I started a Trello board for the redesign, so we all know where we're at – and any of us can add/assign/label tasks to the backlog or vote for them (the backlog is just a brain dump where we can create tickets for anything that comes to mind, but only things agreed upon should be moved to the todo column). If preferred we can make the group public so it can be visible to all, but editable only by those invited. Let me know if you would like to be added. Cheers,Hinerangi P.S. I have also just joined the docs list. On Saturday, 24 January 2015 8:51 PM, "br...@inkscapecommunity.com" wrote: Sorry if this is a duplicate.
