Here is a v6 of this series.
There are a bunch of fixes pointed out by Matthew in patch 3.
There was also a pretty big issue in v5 of patch 2, I dropped some
calls to function programming OACTXCONTROL on shutting down the perf
stream and that triggered failures in the oa-exponents IGT test. This
is now fixed and the tests are back to stable. OACTXCONTROL is now,
again, always reprogrammed on open/close of the stream.
