At least 2 years of professional experience in a technical-leadership position.* *Only GC’s and Citizen* SUMMARY: This role is a senior technical role, combining technical leadership responsibilities and hands-on full stack development. This role focuses on the design, estimation, and implementation of software projects, and therefore requires strong programming skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a high performing team environment. In addition, as a senior member of the development team, this role is expected to provide technical leadership to the team including task assignment, mentoring junior team members, promoting and enforcing standards and best practices, and acting as a point person in collaboration with other teams. PRIMARY DUTIES: The daily responsibilities of this position include: participating in a daily project team stand-up meetings, leading group design discussions, leading developers to provide estimates for development tasks, working with business analysts to clarify business requirements, assigning developers to work on tasks, implementing development tasks through individual and pair programming, and tracking time spent on tasks. Other responsibilities include participating in project team retrospectives, presenting and demonstrating completed tasks to business owners, working with QA to understand/reproduce defects, participating in educational initiatives to improve technical skills, and contributing to shared resources that benefit the Travelers developer community. As a senior member of the development team, additional responsibilities include: representing the technical team in project planning, providing early high-level project estimates, collaborating with architects on high-level design decisions, setting up tools, environments, and workstations for developers, submitting and tracking administrative requests for items needed by the team, mentoring developers, coordinating/collaborating with DBAs, Systems Analysts, and Architects, promoting and enforcing application standards, best practices, and development methodologies, and actively tracking and pursuing areas of improvement for the team. Experience Required: At least eight years of professional experience in a hands-on software development role. At least two years of professional experience in a technical-leadership position.
