Position : Business Analyst, Corporate System Applications Location : NYC Duration : 6+ months* Job Summary: The Business Analyst within A+E Networks’ Corporate Systems applications group is responsible for implementing and supporting our corporate applications, including financial, corporate legal, document management, corporate communication and HR systems. This position has frequent direct contact with staff and managers as both a support resource as well as project lead. A strong understanding of the underlying processes that support business systems is also required. Job Prerequisites/Qualifications/Skills: Experience: Require five years experience supporting complex business systems; programming language background experience helpful but not required; demonstrated project management experience. Experience with SAP Financial applications and eDocs is a plus. Prior experience supporting SaaS applications and internally developed applications is required. Specific Knowledge: Possess strong knowledge of systems analysis, business requirements documentation, technical design and specification, testing, and project management methodology; working knowledge of MS SQL and/or Oracle SQL desired. Job Responsibilities: Provide support to our user community, answering user questions, debugging systems and processes, and working with vendors directly when issues require escalation. Proactively scope system and process improvements while working with internal departments. Ensure integrity of systems by supporting applications, analyzing recurring problems, find and implement permanent solutions. Lead technical implementation projects and upgrades, new product and functionality rollouts, as well as interface creation with external systems. Prepare business problem definition and requirement statements; generate business design and/or system or subsystem specifications for the solution of business or technical problems. Act as functional lead for all corporate systems on projects. Evaluate alternative approaches in business and technical design of applications systems, including assessment of risk, benefits, and costs associated with each alternative. Lead analysis discussions and present design alternatives. Generate/modify detailed specifications for new/existing programs and workflows. Develop test cases and test plans and conduct system tests for new or modified programs. Manage small to medium scale projects and assignments using accepted project management methodology. Manage and set internal customer expectations Manage changes to baseline requirements through a change control process Maintain issues lists, including minutes from design, functional and project status meetings Ensure deliverables are being met on a timely basis Communicate effectively with users and other technical staff.
