Re: [Internetradio] Fwd: [WOR] RNZ guts Concert radio as it plans appeal to youth
The station I was thinking of is Radio Swiss Classic. Also listen to WKSU..it was my local NPR station when I was in college, DR P2 Klassisk out of Denmark and Concertzender. Re: [Internetradio] Fwd: [WOR] RNZ guts Concert radio as it plans appeal to youth
I've had the best luck streaming classical music from Europe. Don't remember specific stations, but I think I often listen to one from Austria, sometimes BBC overnight. My preference is music with no chit chat. I use TuneIn. Sometimes will do a random search and just stream what comes up. On Wed, Feb 5, 2020, 2:59 PM Richard Cuff wrote: > It's a good one. It's a good one. Mostly local, with overnights from the Beethoven Satellite Network. I do stream it on occasion. My own favorite for streaming is KUSC out of Los Angeles. All Classical Portland is pretty good. Don't know if it's sourced here or not though. On Wed, Feb 5, 2020, 1:50 PM Richard Cuff wrote: > Bummer. Re: [Internetradio] Fwd: [WOR] RNZ guts Concert radio as it plans appeal to youth
Bummer. "Curated" -- i.e. hosted -- classical music radio has been on the general decline for years. This reminds me of the re-positioning that CBC Radio 2 has done. To some extent, classical music radio can be voice-tracked more easily than other formats since the durations of individual selections often run 10-20 minutes. Here in the USA nearly all commercial classical music stations are now non-profit; many use either the "Classical 24" service from Minnesota Pubic Radio or the "Beethoven Satellite Network" from Chicago's WFMT for much of their broadcast day. [Internetradio] Fwd: [WOR] RNZ guts Concert radio as it plans appeal to youth
Big changes appear to be coming to both RNZ and RTE. This one is understandable but regrettable — especially if the plan is to replace Concert with a automated impersonal service online. Online is fine but the curated classical programming now on Concert is some of the best available anywhere. Such a loss is to be regretted anytime.
