Area of specialization is Asian philosophy, with a focus on East Asia. An ability and willingness to teach Critical Reasoning, as well as a course on 'Eastern Civilization', is required. Candidates should have a firm commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. Teaching responsibilities are 6 credit-hours (2 classes) per semester. The starting date is March 1, 2021. Six undergraduate courses per year (3/3). A demonstrated record of teaching excellence and a commitment to contribute to the field through research and publication. Salary competitive. AOS: One or more areas of Asian Philosophy AOC: History of Western Philosophy. The ability to work in the primary language(s) is important, as is experience in cultures other than the candidates own. The successful candidate will work with faculty members from other disciplines in an interdisciplinary Asian Studies minor. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching two core courses per semester (two sections of either Questions in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy or Questions in Modern and Contemporary Philosophy), as well as one course per semester in the candidates area of specialization.
