Re: [IRCA] KDZR 1640 IBOC
Patrick, The KDZR IBOC hiss, which was moderate during the daytime, became very nasty at LSS, completely covering both 1630 and 1650 (making the Tacoma TIS-1650 tough to hear). Yes, I remember the KEX IBOC hiss from our portable radio test in Seaside-- but I have never heard it here in the daytime, because of local splatter. 73, Gary ** See what's new at http://www.aol.com ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] First impressions of 24h IBOC
Glenn, Here on the West Coast I checked 1160-KSL and 850-KOA at Midnight MDT and nothing unusual there. CX to the East are good tonight off the Eastern beverage and I do note some very slight HD hash on 710 u/KIRO, presumed from WLW and on 730 from presumed WGN, but nothing much. At first I thought that DXers overseas would be getting a lot of HD hash, but I have an idea with the signal weaker that the HD hash may not be a big deal as I can easily hear WGN and WBBM and yet not enough hash to cause any trouble at this distance. It will be interesting to check at Midnight PDT. It is possible that stations with turn the HD on at 6 AM and just leave it on too. It will be interesting to see which ones stay on when they go directional at LSS too. But here no big deal so far. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin KAVT Reception Manager ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] First impressions of 24h IBOCh, from OK
UT Sept 14 from 0450 to 0525 I scanned the MW band several times on the DX-398 in the yard. This was after the EDT midnight start, and from 0500 UT after the midnight CDT start. Time IBOC hiss frequency presumed source frequency or station 0450 1090 WTAM-1100 590 & 610 ? - 600 0500 1110 caught ID from KFAB-1110, ``Now broadcasting in HD`` 0501 1120 in KMOX nullKFAB-1110 0502 1030 WHO-1040 1050 under XEG WHO-1040 0503 830 in WCCO nullWHAS-840 0504 630 WWLS-640 650 in WSM null WWLS-640 0505 590 in CMBF null? - 600 0510 1680 peaks NE? - 1690 1680 - the strongest of the lot but no significant analog signal to QRM 0511 1500 in KSTP nullWLAC-1510 0515 750 in WSB null WJR-760? I must say none of this would have been very noticeable if I had not been looking for it. In most cases I had to null the dominant station in order to hear the hiss, and it was no problem to hear the dominant stations unless they were nulled. In most cases I could not get a hiss-match above and below a certain frequency because the analog signal on one side or the other was too strong. There could also be some `false-positives` here, noise mistaken for IBOCh. I looked for IBOCh accompanying KTOK-1000 OKC, but could not detect it on 990-CBW, or ?-1010 even when aimed at OKC; may not have been on. Did not detect it on 1190 or 1210 aside WOAI. Of course, some stations that are going to do it may not have promptly turned it on at local midnight. Things may be worse the following evening and onward. Around sunset have previously heard KMOX-1120 and KFAB-1110 doing a number on each other but this time could not detect any IBOCh from KMOX. Also looked for it especially on 690 and 710 from WLW but could not detect it. WOR-710 is DX out here, so not surprising could not hear it on 700 or 720 from them. Did not hear any IBOCh in the 1230-1490 regional/local channels, loaded as they are with piles and piles of analog signals. This was still before midnight in MDT and PDT, so if KOA or other big signals from the west are doing it, too early to tell. Fortunately I don`t have any 50 kW locals, and my three 1 kW locals on 960, 1390 and 1640 aren`t into IBOCh, AFAIK. At this rate, I would say IBOCh won`t disrupt normal listening much, but can certainly be a problem versus weak signal DX. 73, Glenn Hauser, Enid OK Be a better Globetrotter. [IRCA] Waiting for the sky to fall...
Here's my very preliminary report for the first night of 24/7 IBOC: I ran a "baseline" bandscan starting at 11:45 or so - started at 530 and worked my way up the dial every 10 seconds or so, taking sketchy notes and rolling audio, just to have some clips of what things sounded like "before." About 12:25 AM, I went back to the channels that were noted on the mailing lists as running IBOC. 700 is still loud and clear here with WLW, just as it was before midnight. 720 is taking a beating from WOR - WGN is there, but with a lot of noise over it that wasn't there before. 1090 has hash audible, but I can null the hash from WTAM and get clean WBAL. 1110 has some noise under WBT, but WBT is still listenable. 1130 still has clean WBBR, maybe even better than it was before midnight. 1150 still has some CKOC, no real sign of WRVA hash. 1200 was a mess anyway. 1220 still has WHK, with some noise beneath. No obvious signs of hash anywhere else on the dial. That was analog, on the R8A with the McKay Dymek DA5 antenna. Now, heading for digital, to the Sangean HDT-1 with the supplied loop: No sign of any HD signals on 700, 1100, 1140 or 1210 - not even the callsign data that has come through via skywave on other signals (WBZ) in the past. WLW is reasonably clean in analog. WGN is audible, but with noise over it. 1090 and 1110 both clean in analog. 1130 and 1220 listenable as well. Conclusions? It's too soon to tell! None of my locals is running IBOC tonight - no sign of it on WLGZ 990, WHAM 1180 or WHTK 1280. I'd expect WHAM, which is ND-U, to have it on tomorrow night. I understand WLGZ and WHTK may both have issues to resolve with their nighttime DAs. If any of the NYC signals besides WOR have IBOC on now, I can't tell from here. WSM and WSCR are clean here, ditto WGN/WBBM and WWL/WLS. At least based on what's on RIGHT NOW (which can certainly change in a day or a week), this barely impinges on any actual DX here. We'll see if that remains the case as more stations sign on. I'm not looking forward to my locals turning on 24/7 digital, in any case. s Rochester NY ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] WLBA 1130 GA no longer c******g?
** U S A. GEORGIA: For many weeks I've noticed a strong S4 nighttime signal here on 1130 kilohertz from WLBA with nonstop Latino music. IDs are in English usually at half past the hour by a woman. Per the FCC database this is a class D station licensed for NDD operation with 10 kW from Gainesville GA, supposedly dropping to 1 kW during critical hours. Because of this station's night signal it's no longer possible to get weak reception of WBBR or KWKH. Has anyone else noticed this WLBA at night? If anyone knows how to contact the FCC monitoring staff, perhaps in Atlanta, the FCC might be made aware of this signal and requested to check mV/m levels at night on 1130 in NE Georgia (Richard Howard, Burnsville NC, Sept 10, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Glenn: Thanks and appreciation are offered to those individuals responsible for bringing about an end to the illegal nighttime operation of WLBA on 1130 kilohertz. Tonight I listened to the president's Iraq speech and post-speech commentary via WBBR New York while monitoring the frequency. At 9:30 PM EDT I was surprised to hear about one minute of Latino music, followed by another short period of speech in Spanish at 9:39 PM EDT, and then carrier without audio for about another minute at 9:53 PM EDT, on the frequency and without ID of transmitter callsign. I assumed that work and testing were underway at the WLBA transmitter site on whatever computer control equipment for transmitter power and signoff / signon time exists at the site. I find it difficult to believe that station staff was unaware of this nighttime operation that continued for so many weeks on this important national frequency (Richard Howard, Burnsville NC, Sept 13, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Be a better Heartthrob. I checked on the car rx, and note that it is not past midnight here in the CDT zone. WTAM is strong as always, but I have no problems on 1090 or 1110 and 1220 is also free of IBOC. Bob, Thanks for passing this along. I know of two CEs that have told me that they have checked out local stores in their markets, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc and the sales people told them that the "few" HD radios that are being sold, most end up coming back as the people say they don't work. Can other cities be any different? I would be very surprised if many of these radios are ever sold. People have much more interesting things to spend their money on.

Rene' Welcome back. I guess unless we plan on moving to an exotic location, we are stuck with HD Radio. But a lot has to do with how bad it gets. So far in the NW there is little of it, but that may change. I expect CE's like yourself to have an HD radio. It is part of your business. But as a consumer, I will never buy one. As Neil said, they are too spendy and there are so many other things I would rather buy. Re: [IRCA] 24/7 IBOC begins tonight
I was at the local SBE chapter meeting today*. During the banter, (you know that radio engineers love to banter, unlike stodgy dull air personalities, hi) the question came up - and not from me - as to what the local plans were for night HD for the Clear Channel AM properties here. The official word - as of noon Thursday - was that no decision had yet been made, and when it was, it would come from out of town. I then asked if they had any feedback as to the penetration of HD receivers into the market. They had no idea at all as to how many were out there. (*yes I am an affiliate SBE member) I was frankly, surprised, at both of these developments. First that it was even still up in the air, and this comment came directly from the gentleman who would "throw the switch" to do it. The second is that, one would *think* that the HD alliance would be bending over backwards to track these figures. And if tracked, at least make them available to those stations directly affected. I'll grant you that they have no cause to send them to the St. Pete Times...nor to me, either, hi So if they DO have these figures, and don't share them, it does not bode well for the big rollout. And if they DON'T have them it means to me, at least, the alliance is not doing their homework. A.C. Nielsen is good at extrapolating audience survey data, and a lot of green rides on what they generate. There is no reason the HD Alliance can't do the same, except for incompetence, laziness, or unwillingness to deal with it. Or ?? ..(option D ??) They could do a trade deal with all the Best Buy types out there. Give us sales detail info and we give you a break on stocking radios and free promo material among all that trade air time they are filling up. I'd bet that they could connect with a half dozen chains. Wal-Mart, Crutchfield, RS etc come to mind. They could survey the great majority of set retailers to get sales info that would seen to have a high degree of reliability due to the huge sample size. Get Free Advertising in exchange for some data? What's Not to Like? One explanation against could be that the Best Buy types are not convinced of the validity of tracking such a niche product, and won't, no matter the incentive. I'll see what's up locally this evening. - Bob > > > It will be interesting to see the mess that will be made of the > > lower to mid band with all those 50 KW clears hashing up the > > adjacents. > > > > > > It's been a fun hobby. > > Lighten up brother. ;-) SUGGESTION: Get into/back into ham radio. 3B7C workable long-path on 40 meters CW at 1230Z this morning, 100 watts/short wire stealth ant. here. Gee...I guess I should have re-upped to the list a couple of weeks sooner :-). Anyway, hi guys. I'm back and looking for a great DX season this winter. Over the summer I made one significant purchase, which will surprise some of you. Old Mr. Anti-IBOC bought an HD radio for the car. I will say this: HD on AM does sound good compared to analog. OK, call me a traitor; but with most of the major AMs in Philly now in IBOC, I guess it was time to get one. Of course, I did get a model that also has XM, which is where most of my music listening is done these days on the road. In any event, it's good to see so many familiar names again. 73, Rene' Rene F. I strongly suspect AM IBOC will flop as most listeners could care less about HD on AM and certainly won't pony up for HD rx's just to hear AM. However, unless there's a barrage of interference complaints by stations' listeners, or even lawsuits or cross border issues, it will be several years before even some of the stations currently using IBOC cease doing so. Patrick It was Bob's dream to move and start somewhere new as he began his retirement and I went along for the ride with a few stipulations. I think his dxing experience were probably a bit better here than in Foster City as we had another radio station almost in our back yard that gave him a lot of grief. Unfortunately he did not get to enjoy his dream for very long. He had just turned 66 when he passed away and we hadn't been here in Rocklin two years yet. . I'm 55 and am planning on staying for now. Re: [IRCA] KDZR 1640 IBOC
Dennis, I can barely detect any IBOC on 1630 from KDZR and that is with the Eastern beverage. The signal on 1640 is only S8 anyway, and no sign of any hash on 1650 u/the Astoria TIS. So I guess the signal of a station does vary a lot with IBOC hash. 1330 hash on 1340/1320 is weak here also.

Dennis, I have noticed a better signal this Fall from JORF 1422. Conditions or maybe antenna work? JOHR 1287 is always there for me being so far to the North (Sapporo). I did have JOWF 1440 under Domestics this morning. Two that has eluded me are JOIR-1260 & JOER-1350. I have never heard those here. No change in the AM dial here. KEX 1190 is still QRMIng 1180 & 1200, but off the WNW EWE I can easily hear KLAY & CJRJ. 1330 has weak HD hash on 1320 & 1340 even off the Eastern beverage, no QRM on other antennas. 850 Tacoma not an issue with strong signals on both sides anyway. No sign of any KDZR 1640 hash, if they are running it. KDZR is only S8 here during the day off the Eastern beverage and S3 on any other antennas. My concern here is the night signals like KSL & KOA, plus some CA stuff, KTCT 1050, KFBK-1530, KSTE-650, etc.

[IRCA] Phasing /RF notch, etc.
KAZ, I don't give up that easily. The Wellbrook Array sounds like it does have some good directional properties. But time will tell. I noticed several HD signals on in the middle of the night here, KSTE-650 and KCVR-1570, so some started earlier than expected. KSTE-650 on 639 was an issue until after LSR here, then they faded out and I could hear CC on there. But they did not affect 666 that much. I could hear in the the LSB, but switching to the USB, the hash was gone. So, unless the dial gets overlapped with them, there still is DX to be had. Here is a question I will throw out. Years ago, I read about an RF notch filter that the Europeans had built for Norway 1314 to cut down on their huge signal. As I remember, notching out 1314, you still could DX 1323 and 1305, and only a few DB down on each side using the notch. Has anyone tried this on an HD signal? In phasing, you knock it down enough, the sideband hash does cut way down or in some cases goes away. [IRCA] More on TP/DUs
Colin etal, To add a bit more to my previous comments on dxing TP/DUs.When I was first married in April 1976 Eloise & I took an apartment in the Western part of S.F. and it was one of the best locations I've ever had. In 1976/77 conditions were excellent and my equipment was good--Hammarlund HQ140X & Wedge Loop + SM-2. Altho 3LO was the only Aussie I had oodles from Japan/China/Russia/Koreas etc + 1 from The Phillipines. In August 1978 we moved to the center of the city, about 100 feet down from one of the higher elevations in the city (Twin Peaks). Unfortunately it was on the east side of the peak. The difference in these two locations (for dx) was enormous. My first location I had little problem splat/splash wise from my locals. At my 2nd I had horrible splatter from all of them. Plus the fact that the hill behind me was an effective block of almost all the signals from the west. For a couple years I practically gave it up but the bug kept working on me and by 1983 I was spending a lot of time at the dials. To my surprise I heard KORL-650, then KPUA-670, KUAI-720 and several other Hawaiians. To cap it off on August 26, 1984 I had an opening to Aus/NZ...Definitely IDed 1YA-756 Auckland & had good copy. Also had DUs on 747-738 & 837 with audio & partial programming, but no IDs. In looking over my notes from 1980-1986 I am amazed at what I received considering how much more difficult it was. 73 Don K. ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Re: [IRCA] DX Thu 9/13/07
Colin, I agree with your motto/axiom/whatever :-). To those of us without those great beverage antennas it takes a lot of work to seperate those splits from whoever is on the nearest US/Canadian frequency. Mike Hawkins misses some good dx because he has to navigate the freeways at that hour and can't fine tune his car radio as much as he would like. Therefore he gets to work frustrated and grumpy and that's not a good sign I've been very pleased with the number of Asians heard this season, my best ever at this location, but disappointed in not getting audio from any DUs. In the mid/late 70s I heard 3LO-770 quite often, along with JOUB. One probable good reason is some blanket QRN on the lower end of the band that is especially bad when beaming toward the SW. Last season I had a nasty buzz on the low end when beaming NW which pretty much knocked out Asians. That is gone, thank goodness. 73 Don K. I have noticed a slight up-tick in Western DXers taking a swing at TP and DU reception. To you I offer a hearty welcome and best wishes. My motto is: If you do not believe you can pick up trans-pacific, trans-polar and trans-atlantic stations, you will not. Actually, that is less a motto and maybe more an axiom... or in some coastal circles, maybe a bromide. ;-) 73 -- Colin Newell - Editor/Creator - CoffeeCrew.Com | DXer.CA ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

San Francisco CA Drake R8A Kiwa Loop Listening from 1320-1350 Lots of hets but audio noted only from 657-693-747-774-828. First time this season I've been able to sneak JOIB-747 in thru KCBS next door. Only 774 JOUB was a good signal. Was able to be heard even after 0645 when KCBC upped power & turned on IBOC. (But not very well). Was trying to get some audio from 972 at 1345 when KQKE-960 turned on their IBOC. Whoosh, everything gone in white noise. Mike, your hets on 1332 & 1422 are noted here, but no audio as yet. Still no sign of DUs around here, darn! 73 Don Kaskey ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] TPs Sept: Really Spotty/Fluky but Good to Asia
I hope this doesn't mark the beginning of the inevitable downturn... Things were very spotty but, still, quite good. The more memorable: 594 Tokyo was HUGE at first tune-in 1240. By far the strongest ever here and one of the stronger counting at Grayland. I usually have trouble hearing it at all due to very local very big 600 in Vancouver. 612 JOLK was the strongest that I've ever heard it here and was i all morning. No DU talk, even underneath. 621 I don't know what this was this morning. I'd swear that I heard some Russian, but whatever it was, it sounded different from usual. I do have Heilongjiang IDed and QSLed here, though I've not heard an ID yet this year. They do not transmit standard dialect CC during the hours that I hear them I think that it may be Manchu dialect, but I really don't know. This is worth checking out carefully. 702 was the two NHK2 synchros rather than DU... very unusual catch here, though heard many times at Grayland, I think. No DU 801 I was sitting on this one hoping for Guam which would be a first time reception here. No luck, but there was a station in well with an East Asian language that was not standard CC, KK, JJ or (I think) Tagalog. PAL shows a pretty hefty Taiwanese here, so maybe this one. Again, worth checking out. 963 was the usual CNR Russian Service, but briefly at 1255 to 1258, it was the strongest TP signal that I've ever heard, here or at Grayland. I started recording, but after holding steady for about 3 minutes, it dropped swiftly down to lower than usual levels. Full IDs at the hour, of course. 1152 had a piano concerto at around 1312 or so. Wish I knew who this was. 1530 is usually dominated by the huge signal of KFBK in Sacremento. The Wellbrook Array knocks this down quite a bit, but still I've never heard anything under it before the TPs fade out. This morning, I heard a Japanese commercial station for a while, just as the TPs began to fade. This one will likely require a lot of work to ID, but there is hope, at least. 1575 VOA seems to be doing better this year, I wonder if they have increased their power again. Well, packing and house guests are on the list this morning, so I better scoot. Good Morning, Got off to a slow start this morning, loop and ewe wires tangled up, took 15 minutes to correct this mess and raise the masts. When I went outside to lower the masts, noticed that the top loop wire was underneath the patio umbrella. No wonder the loops performance was off this morning. Thanks to John Bryant's report of hearing China // 5030 under JOUB, I was able to ID them this morning. JOUB 774 with the best signal ever at 1332. Asian language station underneath with man talking. Heard between pauses in JOUB programming. Station underneath had a fair signal. Checked at 1344 with China on top // 5030. Heard best on the H-800 active whip, with MS550p tuned to 774. Even there, the authorities look for "marriages of convenience" and often delay granting citizenship for a few years. Otherwise, the way to go is as a business investor. You have to have a certain high level of $$ (not sure, but perhaps into the millions) to invest, etc. This attracted a lot of Hong Kong Chinese back when it reverted to Chinese ownership. Not sure how active that one is. Mainly, Canada grades it's immigrants based on skills, and whether or not those skills are needed in Canada. Other factors like knowledge of English or French, age, etc are also an important source. Finally, you can always claim refuge status.a rather big scam for a lot of people in years past. [IRCA] NE Oregon TPs, Thursday
Quite a lot of good TP activity this morning, even inland here. 164 and 209 Mongolia had several good fadeups for several minutes at a time, beginning at 1157 utc with 164, along with interval signal/theme song at 1200 utc, poor/weak level; 209 not present then, but had faded up at 1206 utc, same poor/weak level. At the same time the Radio Rossii network had 6 freqs audible--153, 171, 180, 189, 234, 279 with 189 doing the best at medium level. The Bethel/Oscarville TWEB on 251 also doing well. Later, at 1250 utc, 164 at weak level, 209 poor/weak. 164 finally faded away at 1302 utc. Lots of MW hets early on, but no audio until 1231 utc when 1566 HLAZ's beam switched this way, and the choral theme song heard, rising to weak level for several minutes. 1548 with poor talk at 1235; 828 with several stations, poor/weak at 1242; 747 poor at 1246; 693 poor at 1247; 567 poor at 1303. 828 with DU talk at 1308, rising to medium level; 891 weak/medium DU talk at 1310; 963 poor talk; 981 poor talk; 1116 with weak 4BC talk; 1512 poor talk; 1548 poor/weak talk at 1319 utc. 738 rising to medium/loud level for 30 seconds, DU talk at1331 utc; 774 weak DU talk; 792 poor/weak DU talk; 891 weak DU talk; 1071 weak R&R pop music, then DU talk after the song; 1206 poor talk. 738 the clearest channel, with DU talk, fading away finally, 1345 utc. 1725 GA,PNG and 1737 KUT,PNG beacons 1328 utc. All in all, a pretty decent morning here. [IRCA] TPs for 13Sep07
I only really got through the bottom half of the band. The Russian LW were all there, but perhaps slightly weaker than yesterday morning. Seems to have been an Asian morning with lots of weak audios. A couple of observations: 801, usually KTWG for me was not today. It was oriental, but who? Not // to CNR2. Also 774 had JOUB at an 8, but also a CC speaker underneath. I had thought it was CNR1 (as John Bryant has reported), but it was clearly not // to 5030, my usual source for // for CNR1. At times they were almost as strong as JOUB when it faded. This all around 13:20 UTC. Another frequency of interest was 621 (actually for me 620.96). John has ID'd this as Heilongjiang PBS, but to my ear it sounded // to 657 which was definitely N.Korea today and // to 3320 at 12:58. Again, only a very weak DU appearance today. Overall, I'd say a strong Asian morning, but not so strong on the JJ or DU..Walt.

Well I could not sleep too well during the night, so I stayed up most of the night. Now I am getting sleepy, so I will make this short. At 1159 I had a nice signal from Radio Rossii on 171 khz. The best I have heard that FE channel. Mongolia was weak on 164 khz Also. By 1255 CNR1 dominated 1134 khz. I hardly had any JOQR this morning, if they were even heard. 1062 at 1320 was Zhujaing JRD in Cantonese, Then at 1324 I heard what counded like another Cantonese/Amoy dialect on 1278, which sounded all news. There is the Xiamen News Channel, so possibily them. Noted CNR CC u/o JOUB at 1325, Then at 1330, a nice signal briefly from Thailand 891. 1575 was also good, Then CNR 1 on 1593 at 1342. A great morning for Chinese stations. Re: [IRCA] Radio Formula unid
I don't know if this will help, but at http://www.radioformulanetwork.com.mx/affiliate_services.asp# you can then click on "Map image" and see a map of US affiliates. There aren't any frequencies given (just calls and city) so you'd have to know your domestics far better than me to spot a suspect. What I thought would be an easy look-up on the web has turned up nothing. The Radio Formula web site does mention that it has syndicated a program in the US at that time, but no station on 1570 is mentioned. Any ideas? ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] Patrick's DX Heaven
Maria, Years ago I probably would not have talked about moving, but after losing my partner of 30 years back in 2002 of heart failure, I am alone now and my hobby is very important to me. I have no idea if I would make the move, but I have thought about it for sometime, even before HD (IBOC), as I love DXing International stations so much. My favorites now are Filipinos. Changing coasts is an interesting thought, DXing from ME or NF would be fun as I would hear Europeans, Africans, etc to DX and QSL As I get older (I'm 58), things like this cross my mind more. Something new and different. I have pretty much DXed out the OR coast. Sure, I hear a new station here and there, but most mornings, I hear 99% of the same Asians, Australians, and the Pacific. At nearly 3,000 AM QSLs from 91 countries over the past better than 42 years, looking at a change would be exciting.
