[IRCA] "Praise 980" In Mountain Time Zone???
I'm hoping for some UNID help from the region. All night over last night and this evening soon after sundown, I have been hearing continuous gospel and choir music coming from my west, here in northern Oklahoma. I am certain that it is not KOKA, a black gospel station announcing as 980, The Light. This is coming from my SW, W or NW and, given that it was in only 15 minutes after local sunset here, it is likely no further west that Ultah/Arizona. Every ID that I have heard (ever 10 to 15 minutes) has been by a male announcer who simply sez "Praise 980" This evening, I may have heard one or two PSAs. Overnight, there were no other announcements (beyond "Praise 980"). None of my references show anything similar. Anyone have an idea about a format change or something??? Thanks! [IRCA] WZFG-1100 (almost) heard on Cape Cod
Between live listening and overnight recording, I spent at least 90 minutes on 1100 kHz Saturday night & Sunday morning. There was definitely a station that would "bubble up" under WTAM about every 5 minutes. The peak was at 0304 EDT when they actually topped WTAM for about 10 seconds. A woman on the phone who sounded like an official said "The Park has...home services." That's it. Not enough data to for an actual log. Darn. You win some, you..." No trace here in Grafton WI where at least it was fun being here during a late winter storm. Lake Michigan below sounds like an ocean with roaring surf when there's big winds from the NE CX were Ok toward the east and quite a few TA's but not extraordinary for domestics. I listened for about 25 min and then gave up trying for the test when there was no mention online of anyone hearing it. 73 KAZ -Original Message- >From: Russ Edmunds >Sent: Mar 29, 2009 9:50 AM >To: a...@nrcdxas.org >Cc: IRCA List >Subject: Re: [IRCA] [NRC-AM] Re: WHTB test - not heard in Rochester NY > > >No tones, sweeps, or other effects as described from the WSAR test heard here >on my recordings either, and WHTB was heard twice earlier in the week also. > >Russ Edmunds >Blue Bell, PA ( 360' ASL ) >[15 mi NNW of Philadelphia] >40:08:45N; 75:16:04W, Grid FN20id > >FM: Yamaha T-80 & Onkyo T-450RDS w/ APS9B @15' >AM: Modified Sony ICF 2010 barefoot > > >--- On Sun, 3/29/09, Barry McLarnon wrote: > >> From: Barry McLarnon >> Subject: [NRC-AM] Re: [IRCA] WHTB test - not heard in Rochester NY >> To: irca@hard-core-dx.com >> Cc: a...@yahoogroups.com, "NRC AM List" >> Date: Sunday, March 29, 2009, 10:45 AM >> On Sunday 29 March 2009 10:04, Scott Fybush wrote: >> > Set up a recording before turning in last night, and >> after >> > reviewing the first part of it, no sign of WHTB in >> amongst the mess >> > on 1400.
