Listened from 1310-1345 ut and conditions were not very good but it was a little better than yesterday. More carriers were heard and they were all on the bottom part of the band. 693 JOBK Japan very poor at 1334 ut. 774 JOUB Japan fair at 1340 ut. [IRCA] Alberta TPs for 10 Oct 2009
This would have been a good morning if it was early September, but not good at all by mid October standards. The powerful Japanese were better than yesterday, and I heard a few of the more powerful Chinese (such as 1017, 1044, 1206), but that was about it. [IRCA] TPs on Orcas, Oct 10
I'd taken a couple of mornings off, but was at the dials from 1330 to 1430 this morning... generally, I shoulda taken another morning off. Well below average to poor would be my assessment. Although I did eventually get a modest number of audios, even on the upper band at dawn, things were far below normal. I did have Thailand 891 doing decently for a brief period just before 1400 and I noticed that N.K. 819 had gotten their signal cleaned up... sounded great this morning. With the additional boost that Grayland gets, I hope Dennis had a worthwhile morning before he packs up. Guy and I'll be taking the next shift, starting Monday morning, with me at Rm. 15 at the Grayland Motel and Guy a mile to my south at Grayland Beach State Park. Guy will be testing the latest iteration of the Lankford Phased Array and I'll be testing the new production version of the K9AY Phased Array from Wellbrook. The latter antenna requires a decent ground for maximum effectiveness and the Grayland sands will likely inhibit things a bit. However, even under those difficult circumstances, I'm very hopeful that the new antenna will prove even more effective than my older ALA100-based Wellbrook Array. Guy and I will both heading back during the day on Thursday. Easy catch at 14:30 with EE nx under/occasionally over NHK2 and in the clear after 15:05 when JJ signed off. Have some good audio. Overall a good morning./ Also some interesting stuff to ponder: 576 had Indian sounding music at 8 level at 15;06. 666 was weird at 15:28 with CC and JJ and SS soundiang music. I considered New Caledonia as a possibility. 1548 had DW from SL at good level with EE at 16:19. 1575 had VOA and Fardabot and probably AFN at 16:15 in Bangla for VOA. Who's on 1126.1 causing a loud het on 1125? Loud at 17:37. Fantastic TA last night with audio on jusbout about every frequency! 1611 Vatican Radio at armchair level. TWR Benin 1566 with EE religious. Czech on 954 at 9 level. Romania on 1053 BBC Ulster on 1341. 1134 Croatia at armchair all evening. Moldova 1548. 963 armchair esp after 04;00. [IRCA] SUNSET SKIP......3 New ULR Logs including 1st TransAtlantic ULR BAREFOOT!!!! + NEW COUNTRY on ULR!!
Hi Guys: What a great day for DXing today!! The afternoon started off with some DOUBLE HOP E-Skip TV DX to VENEZUELA!!! YesI said VENEZUELA!! Had Channel 4 Venevision in for over an hour from 1618 to almost 1800 EDT!! Got some nice Photos of the reception which is over 2000 Miles!!! This is the 2nd station I have received from Venezuela on TV. I logged a Channel 2 from there several years back via F2 Skip under different Solar Conditions. Todays reception was via DOUBLE HOP E-SKIP!! A few guys up this way in Ontario and Western New York also logged this and a few Colombian Stations as wellI was only able to see 4 Venevisonbut it's a NEW STN for the TV Log!! Then tonight after logging that...I went upstairs for my daily Sunset Skip Sessionand logged 3 NEW Stations for the ULR LOGwhich were also NEW to the OVERALL LOG as well!! Included in that are 2 TRANS ATLANTICS which were heard BAREFOOT on the SRF-T615. I have Logged a few TA's previously with the Souped up Eton E-100 Sliderbut today's TA's were BAREFOOT on the STOCK T615!! Sooverall it was a great Day to be a Dx'er here in London!!
