Re: [IRCA] Delicast
I have got to use a WiFi radio (Logitech's Portable model) over the past few months. It comes with thousands of streams already loaded and I suppose that it could be used to // signals, also. Yes, it is another electronic gadget, however it produces less RF than a PC+Monitor combo or laptop. AND there is nice entertainment value too - get the optional rechargeable batteries and remote and take it to the deck or patch it through to your home audio system. It also streams MP3's from your PC. 73, Dave in Indy (-1 F windchill this morning) -- Message: 2 Date: Wed, 09 Dec 2009 18:22:40 + From: Nick Hall-Patch n...@ieee.org To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com, Chris Black n...@comcast.net Cc: a...@nrcdxas.org, a...@wtfda.info Subject: Re: [IRCA] Delicast Message-ID: 19740415002200.133bb2c3afd0e...@edtnaa03.telusplanet.net Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii At 17:03 12/9/2009, Jim Renfrew wrote: Hi Chris, I'll answer your question, but copy the list, too, since some others may be wondering about this. Delicast requires some self-orientation, that's for sure. A very nice write up, Jim. I think you can use globaltuners to ID a signal, howeverif you hear a parallel with a radio on globaltuners, then you can listen on globaltuners until you hear an IDif you have the time to continue listening there. Now, your description of racing around trying to ID things while your computer freezes up on a webstream is very apt, but I figure that some of what I parallel is pretty much a local at the listening site; the Hano Bay tuner lists Pori on 963 as one of its regulars, which doesn't seem unreasonable, so the ID on the hour from there will do for me. Another site worth checking that goes beyond Europe is http://www.multilingualbooks.com/online-radio.html which is where I got my Iran 1503 parallel from. Of course, they also suggest R. Farda is in Iran... [IRCA] Off-Frequency 790 UnID
For some time I've been noticing a station creating an audible het on 790 - the carrier frequency is 789.784. Last night I was able to get some audio from them - no ID, but they ran a promo for Coast to Coast AM. Unfortunately, that doesn't narrow things down all that much - the C2C website lists no less than 9 stations on 790 that carry the program: KNST-AZ, WGRA-GA, WSGW-MI, KFGO-ND, WTNY-NY, WAEB-PA, KFYO-TX, WNIS-VA, and KGMI-WA. I've heard WSGW, KFGO, WTNY and WAEB fairly recently, and they weren't significantly off frequency, so that eliminates them unless something happened to them very recently. The AZ and WA stations are quite unlikely to be heard here, so that leaves the GA, TX, and VA stations as the main suspects. Anybody else hearing this station? Some more ears needed on this case... Hello All, Thanks to Nick for his early TA alerts tonight, which were very useful here. Moderate audio was received here from 1134-Croatia around 0145 UTC, and from 1575-Farda at 0222 UTC. Nick's UAE signal on 1539 was heard here as a strong heterodyne, and currently (0248 UTC) there is a strong heterodyne on 675 kHz from a presumed Radio Maria (heard with audio here in October). Some weaker heterodynes on 756 and 1377 were also observed tonight, neither close to audio. Despite a local TIS station on 1580 kHz, the audio from 1575-Radio Farda at 0222 was the best ever heard here, although TA audio on a west coast Ultralight radio is rarely anything to shout about: _http://www.mediafire.com/?ojeuiuwmvdl_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?ojeuiuwmvdl) The above TA's were received on a modified C.Crane SWP ultralight radio (7.5 Slider loopstick + CFJ455K5 IF filter) inductively coupled to a 7.5' (side) PVC tuned passive loop in the frozen back yard. 73, Gary DeBock ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
