How well can yuo hear them at 6 miles? Thats a real stretch... It wasn't great, but listenable, the Gearhart Drive In. I could listen to the audio on the movie nightly. I saw the 100mw transmitter and the little whip antenna. The only remaining drive in theatre in the Denver metro region is the 88th Avenue Drive-In in Commerce City. I recall that they use to distribute the movie audio on an AM channel and I also remember seeing the whip antenna above the projection room. But a check of their web site (88drivein.com) indicates that they have now switched to an FM channel. The web site warns that you must have a working FM car radio or portable to hear the audio. The window speakers are gone.
