Re: [IRCA] MN TA audio 0n 783 at 0215 UTC who?

2011-10-12 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
1215. and 1268.9992 are the carriers heard here at 0430UT; 1215
is the beefier but still quite weak.

782.9998 shows an occasional trace here, George, but only using
Spectran to "see" it. I believe your times are too early for
Mauritania (can any east coaster verify its sign on time? EMWG says
0830UT, //4845, and s/off is given as 0100UT), but the carrier might
be there a lot earlier. Can you figure out what time it starts to
fade out? That might give you an idea of where the transmitter could be.

best wishes,

Nick

Re: [IRCA] 1620 South Bend format change?

2011-10-12 Thread Rick Dau
Yep, Marc, it's South Bend.  Format change took place on September 23rd,
according to Wikipedia, and several DXers have reported it to various
listservers in the past few weeks.  CLs still seem to be WDND.  With 1490 in
South Bend now silent, there are no local all-sports stations on AM in a market
where sports is a pretty big thing.

Garcee(?); Only ID seemed to be an FM slogan "U93" or similar.  Are AM call

[IRCA] TP for 12 Oct 2011 from Victoria: China

2011-10-12 Thread Walter Salmaniw
Listened this morning from 13:36 to 14:28. Compared to other mornings, my
observations were quite different than Nick's DX Fishbarrel. SF 130 A 4 K
(12:00) 1. No space weather last and predicted for next 24 hours. Whereas
Nick seemed to be picking up the first tier Japanese stations well, mine
were rather moribund. Instead, I was getting some pretty darn good
reception on some Chinese frequencies, at the same time that Nick was not
getting much if any signal. Go figure. My North corner fed loop did the
bulk of the work this morning. The highlight was CNR1 on 639, often at 9
level. No DU activity I could hear. A definite dawn enhancement to Asia
only today. As always, a "6" unless otherwise noted:

LW: 153: barely a 6, 279: 6.5
529: SQM back this morning at 7
558, 567: both 6.5 at 14:06

972: 8 level KK. Strong but with low modulation
999, 1017, 1089, 1188, 1242, 1251, 1269, 1278
1287: 7.5 level JJ at 14:20

1566: 7 level HLAZ

That's it for the morning. Kind of interesting a la China. 73s,Walt

[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 12 Oct 2011

2011-10-12 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Much more of an Asian focus this morning ,than nearly any other
morning this season. No DUs reached audio, and only a couple of the
carriers were probably DU. On the other hand, quite a number of TP
carriers and the following in audio:

Japan: 567, 594, 693, 747, 774, 828
S.Korea: 972, 1566
China: 1206

The Chinese popped up to audio level just for a couple of minutes,
around 1330, and the Koreans were a bit spotty. The Japanese on the
other hand, were mostly already at audio level when I first tuned in at
1240, and stayed that way for over an hour.

Regarding TAs tonight, I did notice carriers on 1215, 1548, and 1575 a
bit earlier on, but nothing at present (0400).

Or you can try my website (http://topazdesigns.com/ambc). On the right hand
side, select 860 as the frequency, click the "include low power stations"
checkbox down below, and then click "show all stations". You'll find that
there are still 12 LPRTs active on the frequency in BC.

You can also enter your coordinates on the left hand side and then enter the
station calls individually to see their direction and distance from you.

[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 10-12

2011-10-12 Thread d1028gary
Hello All,

This morning's Asiatic TP conditions were nothing to shout about here,
at least on medium wave. Occasional good audio from the big guns on
594, 657, 747, 936, 972 and 1134 kHz didn't stick around for long, and
despite a 729 kHz station trying to get through the Vancouver splatter
(apparently Chinese), most of the second-tier Asians were missing in
action.

Longwave DX was a little more vibrant, with 279-Radio Rossii having
some real strength for the first time in quite a while (Russian music
at 1312). 189 and 234 kHz Radio Rossii stations also were at fair
strength around 1315, and 164-Mongolia was back with its usual
threshold-level audio (female voice speech at 1300, // 4895 kHz which
was also at a very poor level).

I heard my first audio of the season from across the

747 JOIB, man speaking in JJ at 1124.
774 JOUB, woman speaking in JJ (100% readable) at
1058. Last heard at 1230, man & woman in
unidentified language.
828 JOBB presumed, barely audible carrier at 1235.
972 HLCA presumed, het above XEJ 970.

Monday and Tuesday it was only a good carrier on 702

there was nothing.

Noted 0657-0703 EDT this morning - WDND(?)-1620 IN with country influenced rock
mx, news headlines with Kim Ryan (?), weather with Fox 20 Meteorologist Ken
Garcee(?); Only ID seemed to be an FM slogan "U93" or similar. Are AM call

Re: [IRCA] IRCA 90--44--1 & 5

2011-10-12 Thread bill kral
1.#1-KKXA 1520.Snohomish-Everett Wa. I didn't catch the intro at 5 PM but I'm
glad they finally launched this one and with a good format-Classic Country
which I also listen to when I'm in Nanaimo BC from Calgary on CKXM 1060.
2. #5-- I'm not getting much of CBC Radio One on 860 which I can barely make
out under the Spanish Speaker which probably is on KTRB in San Francisco. I
might have been hearing things but there was a second SS voice under the
dominant signal but it faded so that will stay unID'd for now. P.R. is now
emerging under KTRB againat 0100 PDT.Bill in BC
