Re: [IRCA] Newfoundland Ultralight Radio Trans-Atlantics @ Domestics Report Mar 31
I'd read in Radio World magazine about Jil FM. I didn't realize it was also going to be operating on AM! It's aimed at younger people. I'm looking forward to hearing this sometime! 549 really gets out (as does 531). Given that I won't be at my Burnt River ON DX site until late April, I suspect my next crack at good listenable TA reception will be in the fall.saul Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2012 09:33:39 -0700 From: vo1_001_...@yahoo.ca To: irca@hard-core-dx.com Subject: [IRCA] Newfoundland Ultralight Radio Trans-Atlantics @ Domestics Report Mar 31 Hello To All, High above the Atlantic Ocean yesterday at the new DXing spot @ Bristol Cove Lookout # 1, I spent about 20 minutes around sunset time scanning the band with SRF-M37W in barefoot mode. Re: [IRCA] pending radio setup in Newfoundland
Allen I'm curious to know what midday/groundwave catches you might have across the pond with that setup grounded in the saltwater? :) I've heard of 5kW 560 Miami (when their transmitter was in Biscaine (sp?) Bay) being heard on a barefoot Sony ICF-6500W at Signal Hill, NFLD. With some Europeans being in the hundreds of kW or even a megawatt or more, I wonder if you'd hear any on groundwave there with a good setup, especially longwave stations? (I haven't heard any here, but I've got a major urban area between me and the Pacific, which also is much larger than the Atlantic, especially heading west or southwest from here.) -- On Sat, Mar 31, 2012 9:17 AM PDT Allen Willie wrote: RE: I'm amazed at Alan Willie's TA DX list of snags with an otherwise not so sensitive little pocket radio and also a little envious since I'm not even getting any TPs with a fairly good full sized portable but then he's much closer to his TAs than I am to my TPs.
