[IRCA] Fw: Caribbean Beacon Anguilla 1610 kHz (30 kW in 2012 WRTH)
Steve, Thanks for the updated information on Caribbean Beacon 1610. I read on line that they started out with 50 kw and one site said they have a 200 kw repeater? Their shortwave on 6090 puts in a good signal here. best regards, Dennis, Kalama, WA From: Steve Ratzlaff To: Dennis Vroom Sent: Monday, April 2, 2012 5:28 PM Subject: Re: [IRCA] Caribbean Beacon Anguilla 1610 kHz(30 kW in 2012 WRTH) I have a 2012 WRTH; I've never checked for domestic/nearby MW stations, but I found under National Radio, Anguilla (UK), The Caribbean Beacon, it lists 30 kW as power. (page 70). So I'm assuming that's the power, 30 kW. Don't know if that's an increase over whatever it was before. Kaz, On 1940 kHz during the day I get KPAM 860 & KFXX 1080 mixing. During night evening KPAM is not a problem going to 15 kw from 50 kw and their directional antennas kicks in. best regards, Dennis, Kalama, WA ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] New station heard 4/4/12
4/4/12 1200UTC XEVU, Mazatlán, Sinoloa MEX (1 kW @ 1696 km / 1054 mi), heard with poor signal on barefoot Sony SRF-T615. Program content was the national anthem of México at 1200, anthem of Sinaloa at 1202, and música banda at 1205. Signal faded away under XEDE at 1212. No announcement was heard, so ID is based on the station broadcasting "el himno del Estado de Sinaloa" at 1202-1205 UTC. Using a Tecsun PL-360 and DeBock 7.5-inch ferrite loop, I could hear a barely audible signal under XEDE and WGN QRM at 1213-1223. Ultralight station #994 (barefoot #983) and Mexico #178. Correction to my earlier mention about daylight saving time in México starting 4/1/12. The state of Sonora, like Arizona, did not change and remains on Mountain Standard Time. Buena DX. Richard. Richard Allen 36°22'51"N / 97°26'35"W (near Perry OK USA) ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] PL-606 Tuning question
Is there any way of locking the PL 606's thumbwheel tuning into the "fast" tuning mode? ie - 10 KHz per change vice 1 KHz per? If not, I could add all Domestic frequencies to the memory (530-1700) and scroll through them in "VF" mode. Never thought that I'd miss a direct entry keypad Thanks and 73 Dave in Indy ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] 12 March Auroral Logs
On Sunday night 12 March Don Moore invited me to connect my Perseus to a 400' south BOG at his folk's home here in central PA, and we let the SDR's running all night. I'm just now starting to review the recordings, and have found a number of new stations. The beam of the antenna was pointed ~ 180 degrees which meant that Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba and Haiti were in the bore sight, and that's what the recordings have yielded so far (times are between 0400-0430 UTC unless otherwise noted): Colombia - 690 Radio Recuerdos, 730 Radio Cadena Melodia UTC, and 760/770 RCN Cuba - usual clowder of Progresso, Rebelde and Reloj stations plus 740 Radio Angula UTC, 910 Radio Cadena Agramonte, 930 Radio Surco (presumed), 990 Radio Guama, 1000 Radio Granma, 1040 & 1140 Radio Mayabeque UTC, 1050 Radio Victoria UTC, 1060 Radio 26 UTC, and 1080 Radio Cadena Habana (pres) UTC Haiti - 760 presumed Radio Lumiere with FR prayers for Haitian listeners, "à la famille haitienne" and religious music (thanks to Henrik Klemenz on RealDX for assistance in ID'ing this); this is listed as 2 kW in my 2010 WRTH US - 580 WKAQ and 680 WAPA San Juan, PR Venezuela - unID YV's on 720, 740, and 1080 (with national anthems at 0430 UTC) plus 770 Radio Nacional (with anthem), 780 Radio Coro, 880 Radio Paraguana, tentative 900 Radio Venezuela (with many mentions of Venezuela over Progresso), and 910 presumed Radio Q 910 (with anthem) Audio clips are up at http://www.personal.psu.edu/bds2/audio/zion2012/ and logs will be periodically updated at http://www.radiodxing.com/zion2012/zion2012.html Brett Saylor N3EVB-State College PA USA Perseus SDR ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
