[IRCA] NE Oregon Wednesday TPs

2012-06-13 Thread Steve Ratzlaff
One channel, 567, managed to produce some very poor DU audio at 1203
utc. There were a few weak hets over the whole band. 567 had low
domestic splatter at the time, that's the only reason I could catch the
very poor audio.

LWBC Rossii 279 faded up briefly for very poor/poor audio at 1120 utc.

[IRCA] Using PC Software for multiple timer recordings

2012-06-13 Thread Dave Hascall
I will most likely never be getting a Perseus but I do hope to take
advantage of timer recordings using a PC and audio software, for DX.
Hoping for Es on FM the other day, I recorded a two hour block of 92.7,
using Audacity.  No skip.

Now I'm thinking about recording MW signals near the top of the hour. I
see that Audacity has a timer option but IIRC, it allows just one entry. I
want to schedule 12:58 am - 1:10, 1:58 - 2:10, 2:58 - 3:10 and so on. Does
anyone have any recommendations for audio software that allows such
multiple timer recordings?

Thanks - that may be a way to log some gy stations.

Re: [IRCA] [Amdx] Using PC Software for multiple timer recordings

2012-06-13 Thread Russ Edmunds
I use and recommend Total Recorder, available from the folks at
www.highcriteria.com. I am currently running 3 receivers 24/7 and 4 others
roughly 16/7 on 3 different computers. What is needed is a separate sound card
to input each signal source to the system. It can be an internal or an external
sound card. With Total Recorder, you can pre-schedule recordings. I have a set
of 48 half-hour recordings for each signal source/sound card combination,
offset to that the end time of one recording is 5 seconds before the start of
the next. Usually that prevents any possible overlap, because if the first one
hasn't finished when the second one wants to start, the second one may not.

Others use other software, and other means of setting up timed recordings but
I've found this to be very flexible and also cost-effective.

the web and playback the files...Great when I am on the road.

I hear that TOTAL RECORDER is good but i have never used it..and it is more

I recorded  1340 for  A FULL year across the TOH. Yielded a bunch of new logs

Re: [IRCA] Using PC Software for multiple timer recordings

2012-06-13 Thread Doug Martin
Hi. A good program with multiple timers and variable recording quality is
recall-pro from Sagebrush Inc. It costs $30, but it comes with a 30-day
free trial. And thirty days doesn't have to be consecutive days. That is,
if I use it today, and not again for a week, the next time I record is only
the second day of the trial period. The website is:

www.sagebrush.com and a link on my own file storage site is:
http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/5txdsv
I have been using various versions of this software for years.
You can also record from multiple inputs, e.g. my radio and an internet
stream.

Re: [IRCA] Using PC Software for multiple timer recordings

2012-06-13 Thread Nick Hall-Patch

I've used RecAll-Pro for this Dave: http://www.sagebrush.com/recpro.htm

I haven't looked at other programs of this type recently, but
originally chose RecAll-Pro because it plays back displaying a time
stamp on the audio file, that is based on the clock of your computer
when the file was recorded. Useful for longer recording when you're
not quite sure what time an ID occurred, unless you want to do
arithmetic using the time stamp of the file itself plus elapsed time.

best wishes,

Nick

2012-06-13 Thread Russ Edmunds
FWIW, Total Recorder does this also, and their basic version is
similarly-priced.

For playback and review, I use Power Audio Editor because it has a large
graphical screen display which enables me to identify peaks, meteor scatter
pings, E skip spike and tropo on FM. That way I can quickly scan files to
determine if there's any potential skip going on without necessarily listening
to the whole thing.
