[IRCA] CFWH 570 Whilehorse, Yukon
I just got an e mail from Dan Sys of BC that CFWH 570 has their FM now turned on and 570 is going dark August 31st, 2012. I am sorry to hear this as CFWH has been a beacon for years when DX conditions were good to the North in the Winter. Logged here several times. I have a very nice folding QSL card from CFWH too. There are no other easy (relative term) Yukon stations to hear. CKRW 610 1 KW is much tougher and the only other Yukon station with any power is Dawson City on 560, with 400 watts. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin Seaside OR KGED QSL Manager ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] Alberta DUs for 10 July 2012
Quite an interesting DU morning here, at least in terms of carriers. The following were noted in a scan at 1100: 738,819,891,1035,1098,1116,1206,1215,1278,1314,1323,1413,1458,1476,1503,1512,1539,1548,1566,1575,1584,1593 (2 carriers),1602,1611,1665,1674,1701(2 carriers) A couple of them even reached audio level: 1503 -few words through the splatter by woman at 1102 Pretty certain it was English but too much splatter to be 100% sure. 1584 - the faintest of audio traces. Carrier was slightly off freq at 1884.03 or so. Rather unusually, my results seemed to match up pretty well with what Dennis observed. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Re: [IRCA] Transmitting sites pictures
Thanks for the tip Todd. I just had a look to the KTCN directional pattern on the FCC website and as expected, it is very narrow. So much power for such a narrow beam always seems like a waste of watts! Indeed, this site must be impressive to look at. One day maybe... Meanwhile, I can look at it on Google map: http://goo.gl/maps/y3GQ Sylvain Naud Portneuf, QC Le 2012-07-10 17:26, Todd a écrit : Hi Sylvan, At some point in time you have to make it to the Minneapolis area and view the 9 tower array of 1130.
