Re: [IRCA] TP for 24 Jan 2013; Victoria version
That was quite a little post-sunrise enhancement this morning, as noted by Gary, and also, somewhat less, by me. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 1566 HLAZ huge with woman talking just before 1600UT, and instrumental mx at 1604UT. Pretty amazing strength. Hi Nick, I'm happy that you also were able to experience the monster signal from 1566-HLAZ yesterday (around 1555). Despite the declining solar conditions, this recent DX season has featured the best-ever signals here from all three of the Korean big guns (972, 1053, and 1566), as well as from 603-China. For some unknown reason, though, the Japanese NHK stations haven't come anywhere close to their best levels. 73, Gary -Original Message- From: Nick Hall-Patch n...@ieee.org To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Thu, Jan 24, 2013 1:17 pm Subject: [IRCA] TP for 24 Jan 2013; Victoria version That was quite a little post-sunrise enhancement this morning, as noted by Gary, and also, somewhat less, by me. I was up just after 1300UT this morning, and the big guns were OK, but not astonishing, in the splatter. One that hasn't been heard for awhile here, was the Korean jammer on 1053; does anyone know if they actually sign off, because I don't think they've been heard near winter sunrise here, no matter what conditions, but are heard earlier in the morning. Listened also 1420 to 1440UT, just after 1500UT, then from 1535UT onwards, figuring that any moment now, I'd go to work, but the upper band in particular just kept winding up. Have you heard the 1053 mini monster around sunrise these winter mornings Gary? It's been MIA for me, but you hear it better than I do. Re: [IRCA] TP for 24 Jan 2013; Victoria version
Have you heard the 1053 mini monster around sunrise these winter mornings Gary? It's been MIA for me, but you hear it better than I do. Well, it has been MIA for me, too, Nick (at least during these January sunrise sessions). Inspired by your PEI DXpedition success receiving TP's during the Asian sunset period (0900-1030 UTC in October), I've occasionally been sacrificing some sleep to check TP's in the early morning hours-- and the 1053-Jammer has always been around during these sessions (the last time was about a week ago). I believe that Richard in Oklahoma also tracked down audio from the 1053-Jammer a couple of days ago, but his sunrise session is considerably earlier than ours. With the potent signals from 972-HLCA and 1566-HLAZ booming in recently during our post-sunrise sessions, the evidence would seem to indicate that the 1053-Jammer has been taking a break every evening starting around midnight in Korea. 73, Gary -Original Message- From: Nick Hall-Patch n...@ieee.org To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Fri, Jan 25, 2013 8:04 am Subject: Re: [IRCA] TP for 24 Jan 2013; Victoria version Have you heard the 1053 mini monster around sunrise these winter mornings Gary? [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 1-25
Hello All, Like Nick has already reported, this morning's TP session was nowhere near as dramatic as yesterday's. The Asian results here generally follwed Nick's script, except for a vibrant signal from 972-HLCA that rose up out of nowhere around 1545. The band sounded dreary during brief checks at 1410, 1500 and 1530, with only a few paltry signals from the big guns on 594, 972 and 1566. It seemed like the morning would be a total waste, but around 1540 fair signals from the big guns 972-HLCA, 1566-HLAZ and 1575-VOA started rising up out of the noise, along with anemic signals from 603-China and 936-Anhui. The only one of these which managed to reach a decent level was 972-HLCA, which reached good audio with Korean pop music and male-female announcers around 1550. Unlike yesterday 1566-HLAZ and 1575-VOA did not receive a freakish boost, though, so overall the session was fairly routine. 972 HLCA Dangjin, S. [IRCA] Alberta TPs for 25 Jan 2012
An odd sort of morning. Started listening a bit earlier than normal (just prior to 1400), and was excited to see a strong carrier on 1215 when I turned the radio on (having left it there last night in a vain hunt for more than a feeble TA carrier). Things seemed quite lively over much of the band. Unfortunately things only went downhill from there, and by 1500 (local sunrise is 1503) the only audio left was very feeble, on 747 and 774. Audio I noted: 567 - weak audio, with talk by a woman at 1456, presumably JOIK from Japan 594 - Japan, JOAK, fair signal, poking over the IBOC with man in Japanese at 1429. 693 Japan, JOAB,good signal with English lesson at 1427, //774 etc. 747 Japan, JOIB, fair to good at 1422 with Englsh lesson. 774 Japan, JOUB, fair to good signal at 1422 with English lesson 828 Japan, JOBB, fair to good at 1423 with English lesson 945 uniD, with vocal by a woman a 1423. 972 Korea, HLCA, good signal with music, talk by man and woman in Korean at 1424. 981 unID, weak in strong 980 splatter, but definite Chinese talk by a man at 1431. 5+1 pips at 1500. Might have been CNR1 //945, but the two would never come in at the same time. 1206 China, traces of audio from the off-freq Chinese at 1407 1566 Korea, HLAZ, poor at 1436. During the early peak I also noticed a fairly substantial off-freq carrier on 702.06 which I haven't noticed before. Regrettably it faded away like everything else. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta Perseus SDR, Wellbrook Phased Array ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
