[IRCA] DX

2013-04-05 Thread Dennis Vroom

Patrick,

Thanks for sharing your beverage logging's with us. If I remember right, you
receive a TIS from back East? We have been having a herd of elk (around 19)
grazing off and on our land below the house. I would have to lay down a bog or
wire above 8' to clear the elk and deer.  The longest bog I could manage would
be about 700' and run North South. Would have to have about a 200' coax run
to reach the end of the bog. Always enjoy your DX postings Patrick.

Best regards,

Dennis,
Kalama, WA

Thanks. I am always glad to share my stories. After 50+ years, there has
been a lot of them. hi.
I have the same thing here with elk. They have crashed through the
barbed wire fencing and tore the fence and antenna up. Infact when I put
back the 70' of fencing the park took out to fix the drain field, the
neighbors told me that elk were coming into their yards and tearig up
their plants. Putting back the fencing seemed to have stopped that.
Yes, I have several 10 watt TIS stations heard and verified from the
East. It was great before the X Band stations took over. I even have a
lot of 100-500 watt Australians and seven 50 watt Lighthouse stations
from Japan and a 1 KWer from Taiwan on 1700. The US TIS stations were
in VA, NY, PA, MI, IL,and TX. If the frequency is fairly clear, I never
know what might pop in.

[IRCA] TP 5 Apr; Victoria version

2013-04-05 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Still mostly Asiatic, Japanese mostly, though a couple of DUs
observed, earlier rather than later. Tuned in at 1319UT (though was
recording from 1300UT), and moments later 774 delivered a nice JOUB
NHK...dai-ni hoso ID by a man at good level. Nothing earth
shattering heard (hmm, 1188 isn't common I guess), though an
intriguing jammer (I think) on 1323kHz at around 1320UT, and some
reasonable signal strengths at times.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

774 JOUB at various times in addition to the ID noted above
1566 HLAZ woman in JJ 1340UT, FEBC mention

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK man in JJ 1323UT and 1338UT among others
828 JOBB EE lessons 1321UT
972 HLCA man and man in KK 1321UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be

understood by a native speaker:

702 2BL. Forced hilarity, and a couple of EE words made me think NHK2
EE lessons, but not //. Listened to recording, and ABC mention at
1300UT, with six pips and nx fanfare.
891 JOHK man in JJ //594 1323UT, 1344UT alsopretty much last man
standing at this time

1053 KK jammer 1324
1287 JOHR man in JJ 1322, 1331 UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

576 2RN man talking slowly //846 1313UT
738 Tahiti, man and woman talking, FF inflection 1324UT
747 JOIB man and woman talking //774
846 2RN man talking slowly //576 at 1313UT
873 JOGB weather reports //774 1310UT
954 JOKR? man talking JJ inflection 1345UT
1188 JOKP woman in JJ //594 at 1335UT; nice surprise
1242 JOLF? woman talking JJ inflection, 1322UT
1323 unID weak talk, still a slightly FF flavor 1319UT; interesting
was the burbling noise that faded up and obliterated it, then faded
down again after 1321UT. If local interference, was specific to this
channel, and with the fade, I'm guessing a jammer?

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

567 612 909 1269 1314 1422 1476

best wishes,

Nick

[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 4-5

2013-04-05 Thread d1028gary

Hello All,

Once again there were major differences in Asian propagation this morning
between this location and Victoria (and Kalama). It was another Korean-slanted
session here, although without yesterday's eastern Chinese visitors (738-Taiwan
and 936-Anhui). During the short (1315-1335) listening session TP audio was
received from 594-JOAK (fair), 747-JOIB (fair), 972-HLCA (good), the
1053-Jammer (good), 1134-KBS (good), 1287-JOHK (fair), 1503-JOUK (poor),
1566-HLAZ (very good) and 1575-VOA (fair). Best signal of the session was from
1566-HLAZ at 1323, which featured strong Japanese speech during the FEBC
Christian program.

1566 HLAZ Jeju, S. Korea Very good Japanese OM
   speech (during short Christian sermon)

[IRCA] 1215 again

2013-04-05 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
A better strength carrier tonight on 1215 at 0500UT, still a long way
from audio, but quite a bit stronger than it was even 20 minutes
ago. A barely audible carrier on 855, and one on 1089 occasionally as well.

best wishes,
