I guess the Death of am radio actually means the end of the golden age of radio and not the actual signing off and going silent of all the stations currently on the air. Re: [IRCA] Veri Received from WDEV!
Thank you very much, Mike! Here are a few numbers that were staring me in the face while contemplating ever logging Vermont: there are only 18 AM stations currently licensed in the state. Of these, two (WRSA 1420 and WFAD 1490) are currently silent. Of the 16 on air, eight are graveyarders, one a daytimer and one (WCFR 1480) is co-channel one of my locals (WLMV). That leaves six, two of which have nighttime powers of under 100 watts and the other four of which (including WDEV) have unfavorable night patterns toward me, to say the least. Without the efforts of Paul Walker and the staff of WDEV, I am afraid that I might never have logged Vermont. 73 Bill -Original Message- From: Mike Sanburn mikesanb...@hotmail.com To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Fri, Sep 6, 2013 2:12 pm Subject: Re: [IRCA] Veri Received from WDEV! [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-6
Hello All, It was another lackluster session here this morning as only a few Asian big guns managed to show up with any audio-- and even they had a serious case of anemia. 828-JOBB (poor), 972-HLCA (fair), the 1053-Jammer (fair) and 1575-VOA (poor) were the mediocre survivors of a pretty dreary session, which seemed to fit in well with the heavy rain and thunderstorms. This Asian TP season has certainly had the weakest start of any one in recent memory, with the usual Chinese big guns completely missing in action. 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) 7.5 loopstick Tecsun PL-380 Ultralight + 12 Medium Wave FSL antenna ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Rather a different take on the morning from Gary, as this was the best TP morning thus far in the season, here in southern Alberta, at least on the lower end of the band. Japan produced audio on 693,747,774, and 828 today, with 747 and 774 up to a good level for short periods. The upper end of the dial was a different story, as carriers on 1566 and 1575, which had been promising earlier, faded towards sunrise, at the same time as the low band Japanese were improving. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Re: [IRCA] [ABDX] WQFG689 1710 Hudson Cty NJ into IL tonight
Kaz, I've been monitoring 1710 for the last hour and it's the usual mix here: the Hudson County, NJ. TIS, Radio Celestial from the Bronx (despite that FCC bust letter that circulated around, they continue to broadcast), and Chicago pirate W807. Radio Celestial plays music this time of night and if you listen to 1710 in upper sideband then you will notice they are about 24 hz above 1710. W807 airs anything from hard rock music to religious preaching (programming is in English). For me, W807 is the least heard here but I'm surprised nobody else has reported it. It's been on the air for at least a year or so that I'm aware of. Nothing has changed within the last year or two on 1710 as far as my reception has shown. 73, Tim Tromp West Michigan On Fri, 2013-09-06 at 22:43 -0500, neilkaz wrote: Reasonably readable sigs from this TIS tonight but with some QRM from something w/mx. Thx guys. Yeah it is SS rlg mx and up high so Celestial. Also some rock type mx maybe just a tad below 1710. Definitely 3 carriers at least noted with Perseus. I'll have to drive into Chicago and see if I can find the general area W807 is located in, unless someone knows for sure. Is that a part 15 or a souped up part 15 or a pirate? I also have to aim a BOG at 5 deg and see if I can get the Antioch IL part 15 and their old time TV shows. New tonight on the GY's are WPGG Atlantic City (gets out great and hrd in WI a couple times) and WKNY NY 1490 for a GY record. 73 KAZ Barrington IL -Original Message- From: kilokat7 kilok...@gmail.com Sent: Sep 6, 2013 11:18 PM To: a...@yahoogroups.com Cc: a...@nrcdxas.org a...@nrcdxas.org, irca@hard-core-dx.com irca@hard-core-dx.com Subject: Re: [IRCA] [ABDX] WQFG689 1710 Hudson Cty NJ into IL tonight Kaz, I've been monitoring 1710 for the last hour and it's the usual mix here: the Hudson County, NJ.
