Re: [IRCA] TP 5 Sep; Victoria version

2013-09-06 Thread d1028gary

Hi Nick,

   A logging of
531 PI later on made it worthwhile (hi Gary...)

That's OK, Nick. The memory of that Samoan-language pest on the Cliffs is still
fresh enough that I don't feel any envy. Of course, come January or February,
it may be a completely different situation.

Not bad this morning, mostly Asia, and fairly lively from 1200UT
onwards; lots of carriers that never went anywhere. A logging of
531 PI later on made it worthwhile (hi Gary...)
.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

not quite today

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

153 R. Rossii, 6 pips on hour 1300UT, and R. Rossii ID by man
279 R. Rossii, man in RR w/R. Rossi mention after pips at 1200UT
747 JOIB weather broadcast 1313UT
774 JOUB briefly at this level 1304UT, wx broadcast by man
828 JOBB weather broadcast 1306UT
972 HLCA woman in KK 1301UT
1053 KK jammer howling away 1200UT
1566 HLAZ man in CC 1159UT, but faded at hour

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

738 Tahiti FF talk by man 1205UT
1287 JOHR woman in JJ 1315UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music) :

189 R. Rossii vocal mx //279 1217UT
531 531 PI, choral mx 1324UT //web stream w/ ~15 second delay on the
stream; first proper log of this one
567 two men talking DU EE inflection? 1322UT
594 JOAK? woman talking, JJ inflection 1315UT
603 slow talking man 1309UT, similar strength on both N. and W.
Flags, so South Korea?
612 woman mumbling best on W. Flag so likely 4QR? 1323UT
657 laid back vocal mx in splash 1217UT, Southern Star?
864 man and woman talking, not //1287 1317UT
1134 man talking 1246UT, too much splash to guess whether JJ or KK
1323 maybe wishful thinking, but I'm sure there were traces of the
CRI fanfare and guangbo dientai at 1200UT; a bit stronger at 1227UT
man in RR inflected talk
1575 man talking 1318UT, likely VoA

Strongish het, no or near imaginaryaudio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter):

interesting for a number of reasons, not least the grand old name of

Re: [IRCA] Veri Received from WDEV!

2013-09-06 Thread dxerak

Thank you very much, Mike!
Here are a few numbers that were staring me in the face while contemplating
ever logging Vermont: there are only 18 AM stations currently licensed in the
state. Of these, two (WRSA 1420 and WFAD 1490) are currently silent. Of the 16
on air, eight are graveyarders, one a daytimer and one (WCFR 1480) is
co-channel one of my locals (WLMV). That leaves six, two of which have
nighttime powers of under 100 watts and the other four of which (including
WDEV) have unfavorable night patterns toward me, to say the least. Without the
efforts of Paul Walker and the staff of WDEV, I am afraid that I might never
have logged Vermont.

[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-6

2013-09-06 Thread d1028gary

Hello All,

It was another lackluster session here this morning as only a few Asian big
guns managed to show up with any audio-- and even they had a serious case of
anemia. 828-JOBB (poor), 972-HLCA (fair), the 1053-Jammer (fair) and 1575-VOA
(poor) were the mediocre survivors of a pretty dreary session, which seemed to
fit in well with the heavy rain and thunderstorms. This Asian TP season has
certainly had the weakest start of any one in recent memory, with the usual
Chinese big guns completely missing in action.

[IRCA] Alberta TP/DU for 6 Sep 2013

2013-09-06 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Rather a different take on the morning from Gary, as this was the
best TP morning thus far in the season, here in southern Alberta, at
least on the lower end of the band. Japan produced audio on
693,747,774, and 828 today, with 747 and 774 up to a good level for
short periods. The upper end of the dial was a different story, as
carriers on 1566 and 1575, which had been promising earlier, faded
towards sunrise, at the same time as the low band Japanese were
improving.

2013-09-06 Thread kilokat7
Kaz,

I've been monitoring 1710 for the last hour and it's the usual mix here:
the Hudson County, NJ. TIS, Radio Celestial from the Bronx (despite that
FCC bust letter that circulated around, they continue to broadcast), and
Chicago pirate W807. Radio Celestial plays music this time of night
and if you listen to 1710 in upper sideband then you will notice they
are about 24 hz above 1710. W807 airs anything from hard rock music to
religious preaching (programming is in English). For me, W807 is the
least heard here but I'm surprised nobody else has reported it. It's
been on the air for at least a year or so that I'm aware of. Nothing
has changed within the last year or two on 1710 as far as my reception
has shown.

something w/mx. This freq has been cleared up but a couple of FCC
busts. What else is still on 1710 from east of me?

Re: [IRCA] [ABDX] WQFG689 1710 Hudson Cty NJ into IL tonight

2013-09-06 Thread neilkaz
Thx guys. Yeah it is SS rlg mx and up high so Celestial. Also some rock type mx
maybe just a tad below 1710. Definitely 3 carriers at least noted with Perseus.

I'll have to drive into Chicago and see if I can find the general area W807 is
located in, unless someone knows for sure. Is that a part 15 or a souped up
part 15 or a pirate?

I also have to aim a BOG at 5 deg and see if I can get the Antioch IL part 15
and their old time TV shows.

New tonight on the GY's are WPGG Atlantic City (gets out great and hrd in WI a
couple times) and WKNY NY 1490 for a GY record.

Subject: Re: [IRCA] [ABDX] WQFG689 1710 Hudson Cty NJ into IL tonight

Nothing
has changed within the last year or two on 1710 as far as my reception
has shown.

Re: [IRCA] more TA Carriers

2013-09-06 Thread Nick Hall-Patch

Not quite so much static tonight, and the TA carriers are back.

909 1053 1089 1215 1485 all around 0500.hmm, a little hint on
1116 also, with a SAH, and 882; 1107 also with a SAH. Now there is
189 (actually pretty good) and 207. And 1215 might just make audio
this evening, if we're lucky.

best wishes,

Nick
