Re: [IRCA] A Part 15 station on 1650 in Flagstaff?

2013-09-25 Thread George Sherman
KBXZ supposed to be call letters. Says rated #3 in Flagstaff for 18-54 y/o
males, according to DSN Radio January 2009 Flagstaff phone survey "the top
value in Flagstaff radio". Phone 877-618-0816 or 928-774-5250 Fax 928-774-5247.
Addr: 1016 W University Ave Suite #205. "Flagstaffs only sports talk radio
station." Website  http://foxsports1650.com or www.foxsports1650.com/ Using
both http & www. doesn't work. Has ads on site for luxury cars from dealers in
Scottsdale & N.Scottsdale. "Watch Fox Sports Radio 1650 am Flagstaff on Sudden
link Channel 99. Live feed from the Northern Arizona University webcam".

The site shows Foxcar 1650 & has on it Fox Sports Radio am 1650. This stuff all
easily found using Yahoo search.

I tried calling the local phone that said they are "Out The Window Advertising"
& to leave a message, which I did not do. Called toll free # & recording said
"Out The Window Advertising Flagstaff office." Could this have been a station
that existed briefly, since they are bragging about January 2009 ratings? 73,

Re: [IRCA] [NRC-AM] A part 15 station on 1650 in Flagstaff?

2013-09-25 Thread Patrick Martin
We listened to the station during the 2007 Flagstaff Convention. There
were two such stations on the X Band in Flagstaff at that time. The
stations were not Part 15. Both had at least 10 watts and maybe more.
Both covered the city quite well on the car radios.

Generally a bit better this morning, but it doesn't look like I'll
get time to go over the recording, so here is the report from the
live listening.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

963 CRI presumed, woman in RR 1339UT, surprise of the morning at this strength
972 HLCA woman in KK 1352UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or

1134 KBS man in KK 1342UT
1575 VoA man in SE Asian language 1404UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be

Rick,

It certainly exists or existed, reported a number of times as heard in and

that KCNZ 1650 in IA is with Fox Sports (according to NRC AM Log; they all

Re: [IRCA] Alberta TAs

2013-09-25 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Rather unusually, 1215 is not among the top bunch here in Alberta.
Germany seems favoured here, as 1269, though never strong, has been in
and out of audio several times over the past hour. A few minutes
before 0400 it was 1422 that was in quite nicely with my best TA audio
of the season thus far. France was also in on 1377. Heard traces on
1125, not sure what that was.

[IRCA] TP DX for Wednesday 9-25

2013-09-25 Thread Bruce Portzer
Conditions improved quite a bit today compared to the mediocre
conditions earlier in the week. Things were still a bit unstable, with
some stations producing decent signals for only brief periods. HLAZ for
example was in well for just a few minutes.

Several channels tantalized me with traces of talk that never quite
broke through - 918 936 and 1044 come to mind. China 1206 and Japan 702
produced their best audio of the season. A few carriers, such as 819
864 & 909 almost had audio today. Alaskans were back, but weren't
particularly strong.

Who is the second station on 972? It was quite noticeable behind the
KBS station today.

Good - listenable audio peaking above the noise and interference for a while
594JOAK woman in JJ 1334
747JOIB nice w/CC lessons 1346
774JOUB weather report & local ID 1320
963CRI, RR talk briefly good 1343, otherwise list in the noise
972KBS, quite good w/KK talk 1328, getting buzzed quite a bit by
unid CC station
1566HLAZ briefly good w/woman in JJ 1313, mostly just a carrier or
weak audio after 1315

Fair - fighting the noise or interference and almost winning at times
640KYUK, woman w/call ID 1300 & promo for a show at 1:30
738CC talk 1345, presume Taiwan
750KFQD, 1300 jingle ID & CBS nx mixing w/Portland

1053jammer
1134JJ talk 1321
1206Yanbian, woman in KK 1348

Poor - mumblings in the splatter
585faint talk //594 1334
657DPRK, talk in 660 splat 1341
666JOBK faint JJ talk 1333

[IRCA] Alberta TP/DU for 25 Sep 2013

2013-09-25 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Conditions were definitely improved from yesterday, though other
than the 972/1566/1575 regulars it was all Japan. China on 1206 was
very close, but didn't quite make audio.

585 JOPG Kushiro, Japan Poor-fair signal after 1250.

594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Good signal from tune in at 1245 to past 1310.

693 JOAB Tokyo, Japan Good signal from 1245 to past 1310.

702 unID traces of audio at 1305, seemed to be Japan, but too weak to
be certain.

747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Good, about the same as 594 and 693.

774 JOUB Akita, Japan The best signal on the band today, solid from
1245 to past 1310.

828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Fair, and didn't reach audio until 1255.

891 JOHK Sendai, Japan Poor audio for a couple of minutes at 1306.

972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Good signal, not quite as strong as 774,
but not far off.

1188 JOKP, Kitami, Japan Weak, with woman in Japanese at 1307, //594.

1566 HLAZ Cheju, S.KoreaGood solid signal from 1245 to past 1310.

1575 VOA Thailand Only poor-fair today, was actually a bit better
yesterday.

Re: [IRCA] tonight's 891 TA?? Fwd: [mwoffsets] Digest Number 1182

2013-09-25 Thread Mauno Ritola
Noteworthy with Algeria is, that there may be two transmitters used in
turn. The one about 50 Hz low has very modulation. It was the one mainly
heard last winter. The other option is much closer to nominal, like
890.991-2v kHz today at the moment, but 890.98 kHz on 22 September. It
has much better modulation with some distortion.

[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-25

2013-09-25 Thread d1028gary

Hello All,

Asian signals seemed to be recovering slightly this morning, especially those
from the NHK and Korean big guns. 594, 693, 747, 828, 972, 1134 and 1566 all
had vibrant TP audio sometime during the session, although most of the
second-tier Asians didn't seem to be participating much in the recovery. One
bright spot was 603-China (Hulun Buir?), which managed its best audio yet
(during an underperforming month) with fair signals at 1335 over an anemic
HLSA. 657-Pyongyang was in with a potent signal at 1343, but was playing
dreary, undermodulated orchestral music, making it tough to distinguish it from
the domestic splatter. The 1053-Jammer was another potent signal around 1343,
having "programming" at least as interesting as that offered by 657-Pyongyang.

738-BEL2 (Taiwan) was in and out with fair to good audio during most of the
session (1300-1350) with its call-in talk program, and since there weren't very
many interesting signals this morning, I listened to it for some time. A male
host takes calls from different anonymous females (only) during the late night
(in Taiwan) radio program, and as far as I can tell with my limited Mandarin
Chinese ability, he is giving them advice on dating, and their love lives. Just
when I was able to translate something juicy the 740-KCBS splatter would always
kick in, undoubtedly causing me to miss the critical details of the
conversation (and the male "expert's" advice). For some reason, the 740 San
Francisco splatter never really seemed very irritating until this morning.

603 China Hulun Buir? Dominant over HLSA with Chinese female speech
at fair level around 1335; best signals so far in September

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/qb7ds71fdbm6jmh/603-China-1335z092513PL380.MP3

738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Musical theme of the call-in talk program at
1332; usually at a fair level during the session (through KCBS hash)

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/do9qob2b3tiy1qi/738-BEL2-1332z092513PL380.MP3

972  HLCA  Dangjin, S. Korea  Strong Korean female conversation at 1347;
best TP signal of the morning

Re: [IRCA] Oklahoma TP DX 9/25/13

2013-09-25 Thread d1028gary

Hi Walt (and Richard),

Asians seemed to be a little more vibrant than yesterday here, especially the
Japanese and Korean big guns. There still wasn't too much activity from the
second-tier TP's, although 603-China managed its best audio of the new season
so far. Like you, Walt, I had the band peak around 1345-1350 UTC, when there
were quite a few vibrant big guns, along with fair audio from 657-Pyongyang and
738-Taiwan.
