Re: [IRCA] [mwdx] The AMFMTVDX list
The AMFMTVDX list is very much alive, and I didn't know Saul was having a list problem until now. List ownership is becoming a challenge for anyone who does it. I run an Internet radio station, and I can't even send the station URL to list members who have voluntarily joined that list because some antispam software is now blocking any messages that contain URLs. Thus, I can't send my radio station's URL on its very own list. Often, when people's messages bounce or any kind of delivery problem exists, their email providers don't let reports of these problems reach their users. They filter them out. I doubt this situation will ever improve. -- Rick Lewis AMFMTVDX List Owner ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] 1450 WKVR unID solved as WJER
It's definitely WJER ... Sometimes it takes a good objective distance from a situation to recognize it. Well, this one gets solved by Torolf Johnsson in Sweden! He suggsted the calls as WJER (Dover Ohio). I listened repeatedly since receiving his e-mail and also caught in downtown Dover at 0:03 of Clip A. I went online, listened to WJER's webstream, and the announcer's voice is pretty close. It was roughly this time of the morning on a weekday that I heard it. WJER also runs similar announcements to those on Clip A, mentioning various place names in a single sentence. So the calls and downtown Dover clinch this one. I have no idea what I'm hearing when I hear Downtown Newtonville - or for that matter Paris Street in Venice, or Millbrook. They're weak enough that they could be other names entirely. Anyhow, thanks, Torolf. It's a new log from Burnt River ON - and I've now had all three Ohio stations on 1450. [IRCA] Oklahoma ULR DX 4/1/14
Considering there isn't much chance of hearing a trans-Pacific medium wave signal here this time of year, I still listened this morning. I heard barely audible fragments of the broadcast from 774 JOUB between 1140 and 1159 GMT (LSR at 1216). There were no signals on 567, 594, 693, 747 or 972. My receiver was a modified PL-310 with a 7.5-inch ferrite loop antenna. From now until late August it is unlikely TP MW signals will propagate this far inland. After listening for TP's, I listened for DX signals from North America. The best DX signal was from XETAR, Guachochi, Chihuahua, on 870 kHz. I was heard signing on at 1300 GMT with the Mexican national anthem and subsequent announcement. From 1309 there was QRM from Vietnamese language KFJZ, Ft. Worth TX. I listened on my PL-606 until 1310. Also, KHAC, Tse Bonito NM, on 880 kHz, with Christian programming in a native American language, was heard at 1245 on a Sony TRF-T615. I hope you had a good DX session overnight. [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 3-1
Hello All, Asian propagation was very good across the band this morning until around 1320, when many vibrant TP's on both the low and high band seemed to fall off of a cliff. Instead of any sunrise enhancement boost this morning there was a huge sunrise degradation instead-- one of the most dramatic in recent memory. At the 1305 start of the session 1566-HLAZ was the star performer, with excellent audio in and out of the 1560 splatter here. The Japanese big guns on 594, 693, 747, 774 and 828 were all having some of their best audio in months, along with 972-HLCA, the 1053-Jammer and 1575-VOA. Fair audio from 738-BEL2, 1134-KBS and 1593-CNR1 was also in the mix, and the question seemed to be which exotic stations to go after. This unusually potent propagation seemed to peak around 1310, at which time the entire band sounded very promising (especially for the Japanese stations). The first sign of daylight around 1315 didn't boost up any of the Asian signals, however, and by 1320 they were all in full retreat. The potent big guns on 693, 747, 774, 828, 972 and 1053 quickly dived into the noise, leaving only some miserably weak signals from 594-JOAK, 603-HLSA and 1575-VOA to finish out the disappointing session around 1340. Best signal of the morning (excellent) was from 1566-HLAZ around 130! 5, although quite a few Japanese and Korean big guns delivered very good audio prior to the dramatic propagation swoon around 1320. It will be interesting to find out if Bruce or Nick (or maybe Dennis) experienced this dramatic Asian drop off. 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) C.Crane SWP 7.5 Slider loopstick Ultralight + 15 DXpedition FSL antenna ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] TP DX in Seattle for April 1
Conditions weren't all that bad for April. The bottom of the band was a total bust, with weak audio on 693 747 and 774. VOA-1575 was impressive for a few minutes today. [IRCA] Alberta TPs for 1 April 2014
Reception here was much along the same lines as Bruce reported. The bottom end of the dial was pretty much dead, with only fairly feeble carriers on 693,747,774,828. At the top end 1566 HLAZ was quite good (certainly for this time of year), and 1575 VOA, though not overly strong, had quite clear audio for a good 15 minutes. [IRCA] TP 1 Apr. Victoria version
There was a tiny enhancement here after 1330UT, at least on a couple of regulars, otherwise a very pedestrian morning indeed. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 1566 HLAZ. JJ talk 1243 and 1332UT; interestingly still an audible signal at 1418UT with a woman sounding like she was in CC; bright sunshine outside. Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 828 JOBB. CC lessons, going over syllabic sounds, very much like the product of digestive upset. This might be a fun language for young over-exuberant children to learn. 972 HLCA. Man in KK 1336UT, woman agreeing not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 1575 VoA. Woman in SE Asian language 1303; thought I heard a VoA mention at 1300UT, when it was weaker. Also pretty good with man in Khmer? at 1334UT, This program has come to you from Voice of America, Washington had been heard at 1330UT then Voice of America in Khmer repeated, so I'll take their word for it. Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) : 594 JOAK? man, JJ sounding? various times, never amounted to much 774 JOUB. Sounded like EE lessons by man and woman 1306UT; where did the wx report go? 1053 KK jammer 1303UT 1206 Yanbian? Man talking 1143UT, could have been KK; pretty weak, benefiting from 1200 Vancouver being on OC Strongish het, no or near imaginaryaudio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 864 1008 1044 1188 1323 1377 1593 best wishes, Nick ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
