[IRCA] WSPO QSL Update
Hi folks. The snail mail reports are still coming in and I have been working with the WSPO CE on the QSL for this test. I believe the QSL will be of a similar format as the nice WCIT QSL from the test last season. Give us a few more weeks to get it designed and printed. All e-mail-only reports will receive a scan of the QSL. Wasn't it only a short time ago that Family sold off a batch of it's big FM's such as 94.7 and 106.9 in NJ ? And now they're buying coverage-challenged AM's ? Great reception into Victoria using USB to avoid IBOC on the lower side with an ID at 03:27 UTC. Thanks for that, Forrest and Patrick. My 2011 NRC AM Radio Log still had them as new and testing. I never heard KPIK, I don't believe. I may have, but I would have QSL'd them I would think, as I try to QSL every new station I hear. CO is easier than AZ stations and I do have a few GYers from CO too. I think I am at 52 or 53 CO QSL's. A few call changes in there too and a defunct station or two. [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 11-22
Hello All, Believe it or not several Asian big guns sounded halfway alive this morning. Shaking off a 12 day slump the Japanese and Korean mega-stations led the revival, with 594-JOAK even hitting a fair to good audio level just after 1500. At first check around 1400 it was already obvious that this morning would feature an improvement over the recent lackluster November propagation. 594-JOAK, 693-JOAB, 972-HLCA and 1566-HLAZ were all managing threshold audio, and 1593-CNR1 was close to doing so. There were even some moderate carriers on 603 and 738-- almost unheard of recently. These big guns generally rose up to fair levels in and out by 1430, and a late sunrise enhancement boost around 1500 gave additional strength to 594-JOAK and 1593-CNR1. Both of these diehards hit very brief good peaks around 1510 before collapsing back into the noise with the other Asian big guns. It sure does help that KOKC is on a STA. They are in well at times but with deep long fades. Certainly is making this a dxable frequency. I thought I had WMLM in earlier because KOLM was either off or on night power, but I'm just gonna have to hope KOLM remains subdued. Interesting turn of events because usually under normal conditions KOLM blocks SSS and sometimes at night. KOKC with its 50kw will annihilate the frequency at night with KRHW/KOLM the only other stations heard regularly under KOKC. WHOW is my other new catch on this frequency so far. What's the scoop with KKXA? Are they running day rig at night? KAZA needs to be extremely careful. It was just issued a Notice of Apparent Liability for $18,000. The violations are failure to renew the license on time and big time public file problems. It lost its transmitter site and under an STA is running 25% of the licensed power (20 watts at night) nondirectional diplexed at KZSJ-1120. I can't imagine 20 watts nondirectional giving Chico grief up there. 25% of day power is 1,250 watts. The difference is a mere 17.95 dB!
