Re: [IRCA] TP 26 Jan Victoria version

2015-01-27 Thread d1028gary
Hi Nick,

   I'm wondering if
this was very local, as Bruce and Gary often hear east Asians better than I do
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
1566 HLAZ.  This had  brief bursts of recognizable CC talk at 1418
and 1420UT, but it started a bit a of a jag at 1531UT, with more
recognizable talk, erratic fading to be sure, but kept building to
this strength at 1538-9UT with lively choral mx, then gradually
fading down to about 1545UT.   A big surprise.

Well, it sounds like a Victoria exclusive, Nick.

I can't speak for Bruce, but 1566 didn't even manage a carrier here during
sunrise enhancement around 1540. It was down for the count throughout the
session. 1575 managed a moderate carrier from 1430-1530, but that was it for
Asian signals here this morning. After yesterday's session, though, who is
complaining?

73, Gary

.

What with having to use the north Flag this morning, and others
reports of lousy conditions with a DU bent, and my own monitoring, I
expected a shut out.   Um, not quite actually,   I'm wondering if

[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 1-27

2015-01-27 Thread d1028gary

Hello All,

Asian signals rebounded somewhat from yesterday's dreary session, but were
still far from vibrant.

There were some fair low band signals on 594, 603 (HLSA), 693 and 747 at my
1430 start time but these fizzled out as daylight approached. The high band had
all the limited action after 1500, with fair signals in and out from 1566-HLAZ
and 1593-CNR1, and poor audio intermittently from 1575-VOA. All these signals
were long gone by 1540, however, as typically dreary January propagation
brought a swift end to the lackluster session.

Hi Pete,

CFAX is a fine local station (KGO model: pour in local money and
local money will pour out), but at 6pm many nights, they turn into a
pumpkin, and relay live sports from CKST-1040. In addition, their
Sunday morning programming before about 8 AM is purest snake oil
infomercial. You can't be great all the time.
(but if it keeps the station solvent for the local stuff, it's a
small price to pay)

all the best,

Nick

1566HLAZ, Korea Talk by a man, fair signal.

1575VOA, Thailand Talk by man in Burmese pgm, fair signal
