[IRCA] TP DX in Seattle on 8 Feb
It was another one of those tantalizing mornings here: lots of carriers at the high end, with weak audio on many of them. There was an actual sunrise enhancement today from 1500 to 1520 UTC, unlike the recent past. The low end of the dial was rather dreary, with feeble appearances from some of the regulars. GOOD 1566HLAZ, Chinese woman 1509 FAIR 774JOUB, chimes, man woman in Japanese 1421 1386NHK2, Japanese male talk faded up briefly 1509 1503JOUK, faint pips 1500, gradually improving to fair level 1511 w/male talk 1557music 1512 (male vocal), probably Taiwan POOR 693JOAB, Japanese talk 1451 747JOIB, 1500 pips bits of talk 828JOBB 1416 woman //774 972HLCA, woman talking, then song 1448 1242music 1504 1314talk, hard to make out 1509, sometimes slow paced woman, sometimes sounded faster, possibly 2 different stations. [IRCA] TP 8 Feb Victoria version
A ragged and interesting bunch this morning, lots of erratic fading, so there was probably more in the recording than I have time for. Sunrise peak around 1510-15UT this morning, spread over the band. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 1503 JOUK man in JJ 1512UT 1566 HLAZ woman in CC 1509UT; noted w/weak vocal mx 1631UT as well Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 558 HLQH man talking quietly, laid back male vocal, //603, with energetic JJ man (JOCR?) providing a backdrop 1515UT 567 JOIK man in JJ 1508UT followed by NHK1 theme mx 603 HLSA laid back male vocal 1513UT //558 747 JOIB man in JJ 1520UT 774 JOUB EE lessons 1436UT 972 HLCA singing practice, and man in KK 1317UT, audible as late as 1528UT w/pop mx not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 594 JOAK man in JJ 1506UT 828 JOBB man in JJ 1421UT //747 1386 NHK2 occasionally at this level parallel to various others. 1494 unID man talking, sounded like JJ...but maybe not. [IRCA] Could I have logged 1490 Saskatchewan from ON?
Going through audio from last few weeks, I have a station on 1490 that seems to be the pre-game show for the NHL All Star game. It gives a network ID, the Sportsnet Radio Network and mentions the Fan 590. That would suggest a Canadian station as the network is Canadian and the Fan 590 is CJCL Toronto. It seems a stretch to think I could have logged CJSN Shaunavon SK on a graveyard given that it's listed as 1000 watts. The clip is from Sunday Jan 25 at 0638 EST which seems odd for a pre game NHL all-star game, though it could be a rebroadcast and in SK would be before 6am. This is my optimal time for getting SK, the Dakotas and WI/MN etc... But, uh ... ??? Clip online at: http://forums.wtfda.org/showthread.php?9532 Thank you to those who listen and/or comment... [IRCA] Alberta TPs for 8 February 2015
Listened for 1425 to 1450 today. Yesterday was a total dog here, with no audio, and nothing really close. Today was entirely different, with quite a bit of audio, and a lot of tantalizing carriers that never quite made it. 594 JOAK, Japan Traces of woman in Japanese at 1429 693 JOAB, Japan Fist noted with a audio traces at 1427, up to fair with woman in Japanese at 1437. 747JOIB, JapanPoor, with man and woman speaking at 1437. Pretty sure this is the first time I've heard this one in 2015. 774JOUB, JapanFair, with man in Japanese at 1428 828 JOBB, Japan Man in Japanese, //774 at 1443. 936 unID Traces of audio for a minute or two at 1429. The mystery of the morning, as I've never logged an identified TP here. 972 HLCA, KoreaMan speaking in Korean, peaking to fair around 1431. 1188unIDTraces of audio at 1437, but too weak to ID language. 1386NHK2, Japan Surfaced for a few minutes around 1428 with man in Japanese. 1422JORF, Japan Weak, with talk in Japanese by a man at 1429 1566 HLAZ, Korea In audio at first tune in at 1425, peaked at fair (almost good) around 1429. 1575 VOA, Thailand Fair at 1427 with woman speaking. Nil-poor for 1430 ID, but improved a bit after that. A ton of carriers, but strong ones on 576, 702, 864, 1179, 1314, 1404, 1593, 1602 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
