[IRCA] KKXA

2015-02-10 Thread Mike Sanburn
Nice, just logged KKXA WA here in Lakewood CA while KUNX in Port Hueneme is off
the air. Dennis Gibson shared the tip that KUNX and KKZZ 1400 will be swapping
frequencies. Nice selection of classic country tunes and plenty of IDs. Some
massive slow fading. Pretty strong signal on the upfade. Ms

Great going Mike. KKXA must have more signal going South than their pattern
says, as I get them here better than I should.

Liking some of these classic country tunes like Willie Nelsons version of "City
of New Orleans" and "I've always been crazy" by Waylon Jennings. Oddly they
seem a bit stronger now at 2:20 am pst that they did around 1am. Love logging
new ones. Hope they are good verifiers. Ms

[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 2-10

2015-02-10 Thread d1028gary
Hello All,

A halfhearted sunrise enhancement around 1500 brought some low and high band
Asians out of the noise for a few minutes this morning, but none of them ended
up sounding very vibrant before making a premature exit.

Signals were dreary indeed at my 1430 start time, with only a weak carrier on
972 as a sign of TP life. With the first sign of daylight around 1450 some
threshold audio started appearing on 558, 594, 603, 693 and 972, followed by
some high band ghostly audio on 1566 and 1593 around 1500. Both 594-JOAK and
603-HLSA managed poor to fair audio around 1505, along with 1566-HLAZ and
1593-CNR1. Usually either the low or high band Asians start to build up
strength at this point but this morning none of them seemed particularly
impressed with the propagation, bailing early around 1515. There were no great
Asian signals this morning, although 594-JOAK, 603-HLSA and 1566-HLAZ all had
some fair peaks in and out just after 1500. Such was the story of another
lackluster session.

[IRCA] TP DX in Seattle on Feb 10

2015-02-10 Thread Bruce Portzer
It was another morning of pathetic low-band reception and tantalizing
high-band signals. There was a very pronounced sunrise enhancement that
lasted from about 1505 to 1515. Otherwise, the band was rather devoid
of TP signals. The high point was hearing reasonably OK audio from one
of the Japanese stations on 1404.

Re: [IRCA] KKXA

2015-02-10 Thread Patrick Martin
Get KKXA while you can, as I feel their pattern may be messed up. They they
first signed on, KKXA was hard to hear. I finally caught them well enough for a
report but it took several days. It was tricky as I heard them the best near
LSS. By night they were buried under OR City and OK City. Now KKXA is easy. I
even hear them under KGDD during the day!

Re: [IRCA] KKXA

2015-02-10 Thread Paul B. Walker, Jr.
If KKXA were cheating, I'd have a better signal form them at night then I
do. They are directional at night, but their lobe to the SW towards
Bremerton puts me on the wrong side of that pattern. 1520 in OKC is on a
non directional STA at night while they work on things.

Gotta remember, KKXA's technical parameters have changed.. they originally
signed on with 20kw day, not the 50kw they have now.. that would be a
somewhat noticeable difference.

[IRCA] TP 10 Feb Victoria version

2015-02-10 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Generally comatose before about 1508UT this morning, and a small
upper band enhancement for about 10 minutes, and that was it, though
included a weak CNR1 on 1359. No sign of DUs today.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

no

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

1566 HLAZ female vocal mx, last woman left standing 1519UT, soon faded

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

747 JOIB woman in JJ //774 1442UT, faded by 1450UT
1593 CNR1 man and woman talking CC 1518UT, seemed //6125, though
tough because of offset. Had seemed more closely // but weaker
1513UT, when //1359.

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)

774 JOUB man and woman talking //747 1439UT
1242 man and woman talking, maybe JJ inflection
1359 CNR1 really weak, man talking seemed //1593, 1513UT
1386 NHK2, also very weak //weak 774 1515-16UT
1422 woman talking, JJ inflection 1511UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)

738 1134 1323 1404 1494 1575

best wishes,

Nick

No sign of KKXA down here tonight from around 6-7pm MST (0-1UT) or now
10:45pm (0545UT), with tuned loop or with vertical phased in. Logged them
back in October, but I don't check this frequency much.

Strictly an upper band morning here, with all the audio, such as it was,

1566 HLAZ, Korea Poor-fair, from 1428 to 1445 fade out
1575VOA, ThailandFair at 1427, gone by 1440

I started listening around 1425, and signals took a rapid dive around
1440, which is right at sunrise in these parts.

Strong carriers also on 1557 (quite common) and 1458 (very uncommon),
