PS:  Has anyone at Grayland ever heard any of the various private MW
Russian far east stations?  PAL lists a pile of them, but I never see them
reported.  I did hear Avtoradio on 531 very well in Masset in March.

Actually the Asiatic MW Russians peaked at 78 stations and now half are still 
on the air (39). But as you pointed out, the fatality list includes almost all 
the big guys. Of the Grayland regulars, only Rossii 810 remains.

[IRCA] KKAA logs

With all of the KKAA logs I'm wondering if it's using the day pattern, which 
sends some signal toward WQEW. The night pattern doesn't because it has to 
protect it. All of the other stations running much power have night patterns 
with huge nulls toward WQEW. Night and day power are both 10 kW.

My target list - stations others have heard within my general area (say 300 
miles out) or that I think should be close enough to log:WLZR FL (previously 
heard in Toronto)WSEZ INWRIN IN (previously heard in Toronto)WQXY KY (is this 
truly silent?)WKIK MDWMBH MO (previously heard in Toronto)WBOL TN
Curious if any of you have heard any of these during this outage. Or if I 
should be adding anything to my list.

Some of tom Huth's stations see,co n the same Americas best music standards
satelitte format and some of them run the same talk programming. I've heard
multi station Ids on both but not all the time either..and I can't figure
out when/why..haven't paid much attention to it.

It's very likely they are.. I have heard a conga line style Id on both KBLF
1490 and KRAC 1370 before. Both 1490 and 1370 share towrs about 25 miles
south of me  1490 is nearly non existent most of he time, it's there just
enough to tell its on. 1370 is weak but listenable with 4200w beamed right
at me.

This morning around 6am PST I logged KIQS 1560 Willows CA with a pretty good 
signal under and even with KNZR. TOH ID mentioned KRAC Red Bluff-Mountain Gate. 
Are these simulcasting now? Got a fairly good report written down. Their old 
phone number 916-934-4654 is no longer in service. I'm wondering if P.O. Box 7 
Willows is still in effect or if there is a new address now (perhaps KRAC) Mike 
Sanburn  Lakewood CA

Gary, I like the R8 the best as it is much easer to tune than the
R-390A.  The R-390A is very good and I like the audio on the R-390A much
better than the R8.

[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 2-23

With the exception of the low band NHK big guns Asian signals hit the skids 
this morning, with the high band especially dreary. The low band Koreans that 
were so energetic on 603 and 657 the past three days were long gone, and the 
only variety this morning was the NHK1 program on 594 and the NHK2 program on 
693 and 747. 
  
At my 1415 start time 747-JOIB was setting the pace in the predawn darkness 
with good-strength English lessons, along with its parallel 693-JOAB at a 
slightly weaker level. 594-JOAK was in and out with fair strength Japanese 
conversation, and it appeared that the band might have some potential. 
Unfortunately things stayed exactly this way as daylight increased, with almost 
nothing else coming out of the noise. The Koreans on 558, 603 and 657 were 
missing in action except for a few ghostly peaks, while the usually potent 
Koreans on 972, 1053 and 1134 were little better. The high band was practically 
comatose during the entire session, with only a few anemic peaks from 1566 
around my 1415 start time. Best signal of a dreary morning was from 747-JOIK, 
fighting it out with the Puget Sound-covering electrical noise and Portland 
splatter around 1428.
