[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 15 August 2016
Haven't been in serious DX mode yet, but I have checked most mornings, and the past several have been more of the "is my antenna connected" type. Today was better with audio from Australia's 3LO on 774 at 1153, 1116 4BC briefly at 1157 and 1204, and an uniD on 1611 at 1208 (sounded like a preacher so suspect Vision). Also traces on 1629 at 1210 which certainly seemed // 1611. Traces of music also from an ethnic station a bit on the high side of 1656. Usually 1701 is the most regular X-band audio, but today not so, with a mess of three pretty much even strength carriers all on the high side of 1701. Good to see that much action on the X-band. Hope it's a sign of things to come. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, AB Perseus SDR with Wellbrook Phased Array ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Be sure to register now for the Joint DX Convention Kansas City, September 9 to 11. Re: [IRCA] CKSL 1410 London, ONTARIO Update……..
When I get my beverage back hooked up this Fall, I should do fine once again with 1410. Vancouver does not have the signal they used to have. Logged quite a few Midwest and Eastern stuff on the freq. I will give the channel once again a try. Apparently the tower array would cost many hundreds of thousands to fix and they said its not worth it, to which I agree. WJMP 1520 Kent, OH has turned in it's license... a multi tower daytimer, and I udnerstand that decision too Paul On Mon, Aug 15, 2016 at 10:45 AM, Todd S wrote: > Glad I was able to nab them a couple of years ago. > > Todd Skaine > Bloomington Mn > > On Aug 15, 2016 12:44 PM, "Robert Ross" wrote: > > > Well…it's Adios Amoeba for CKSL……..They are no more!! > > > > Last night about 2330 EDT I fired up the Sony SRF-T615 Ultralight and > > tuned in to 1410 to hear their spectacular Sign-off!! > > > > They were playing the Comedy Feed with no LIVE Talk at all. [IRCA] CKSL 1410 London, ONTARIO Update……..
Well…it's Adios Amoeba for CKSL……..They are no more!! Last night about 2330 EDT I fired up the Sony SRF-T615 Ultralight and tuned in to 1410 to hear their spectacular Sign-off!! They were playing the Comedy Feed with no LIVE Talk at all. I figured just before Midnight someone would come on the air and say something like…"Thank You London fort tuning into CKSL for the past 60 years…..we're sorry we have to leave the air and hope you have enjoyed listening to us over the Years". Instead the sign-off was………. "Live Comedy Skits up to Midnight…then precisely at Midnight somebody pulled the Power Cord and they were Gone!! No Carrier…No Goodbye, No Nothin'" Pretty sad exit for a 60 year Old Station…….I'm 60 too….and I hope I go out with a Bigger Bang than that when it's time!! HHAHAHHAHA. Anyways….once the power Cord was yanked..I noticed that there actually was life UNDER CKSL!!! I logged 1 NEW STN on 1410 Khz before cashing in for the night. I'll do some more listening and see what I can dig out. I don't have the Wellbrook Loop back out on the deck yet…and probably won't hook it back up til I get home from Alaska around the 11th of Sept…… I heard several stations on 1400 Khz as well…so I should be able to dig a few out of that, especially with the ULR as I have heard exactly ZERO Stations on 1400 with the ULR. We'll see what I can find when I'm not so tired, and can also check Sunset/Sunrise times…..even Daytime might yield something?? 73………ROB VA3SW Robert S.
