[IRCA] TP 12 Oct Victoria version
Big guns loaded up at various times; that seemed to be where the sunrise enhancement was at this location, not in the appearance of various second tier stations.. Lots of potential in various carriers but remained potential without somebody doing some serious digging. Some Aussie signals. Lots of static. Didn't find much difference between north and west Flags at around 1415UT, might have been different at other times. Conditions just seemed a bit poorer today. The report today is a bit scattergun like the conditions pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 594 JOAK man in Japanese 1401UT 747 JOIB various times 774 JOUB English lessons 1412UT, but not consistent performer 828 JOBB English lessons with something underneath that couldn't ID, 1411UT; had also been heard at this level 1358UT with basics of Chinese pronunciation, various extended vowels, fascinating. Imagine that 6 year olds would love practicing these sounds completely unknown in English 1566 HLAZ man and woman in Chinese 1414UT Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 954 JOKR man in Japanese 1423UT //1287 with slight offset 1287 JOHR as above. Regular parallel programming at this time? not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 738 2NR man in DU English //702 1405UT 738 moments earlier at 1400UT, woman in French assumed Tahiti Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 531 pop muisc not //594 at 1358UT; local noise obliterated the hour 576 man and woman 1422UT, DU English inflection 612 4QR man talking, like a speech 1415UT //738 792 man talking Du English inflection 1424UT 1017 man and woman mumbling, could have been Korean 1403UT, nothing on hour 1386 Hindi sounding female vocals 1404UT, assumed R. Tarana Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here lots, but not delivering much best wishes, Nick ___ ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

The Flag here does look straight at 1410 Nigel, but there really is only the faintest carrier being heard there right now, and I had to wait for it to fade up. It would have to really powerhouse to overcome the 1410 splash however. 1215 has had bits of audio this evening, verified as Absolute R. with parallels on a couple of European Cloud-IQs (like being at the radio, pretty nice), but it's really suffering from splash this evening, so even a strong carrier isn't delivering muchbut it just did at 0418UT with rock music. and a bit of talk on 1089, and now a woman in English on 1215 doing a commercial.. 1305, 1341, 882, 1044, 1053, 1296 and so they keep popping up... best wishes, Nick At 04:01 13-10-16, you wrote: Similar story here - 1215 just made it into audio.1386, 1413 aren't far off on peaks. [IRCA] Alberta TPs for 12 October 2016
After all the glowing reports of this morning's conditions I'd like to follow suit, but things weren't quite the same here. I did have Japanese audio here, but it was overnight. My 0900 recording had good audio on 693, and even fair on 1422 (though oddly 747, 774, 828 were only decent carriers). Rob, good going on your amazing opening. I remember hearing Jamaica on 720 one evening years ago during a deep au cx. I was so excited I called George Sherman up to tell him. He was rather doubtful, until he heard for himself was amazed. We also heard 750 also most in the clear. Though we never heard them again. [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 10-12
Thanks to Dennis and Bill for their detailed reports. Results here were similar to Dennis' version, with fewer Japanese and a few more Koreans (as usual). Similar to yesterday, a decent sunrise enhancement boosted up the Japanese and Korean big guns to potent levels, and brought up a few second-tier Asians as well. At my 1300 start time the band sounded very similar to yesterday's, with all the Asians except for 747-JOIB and 1566-HLAZ generally subdued in the predawn darkness. A few Chinese mid-band stations on 1017, 1035 and 1044 were struggling to get out of the noise but could only stay in audio for a few seconds each, and there was weak audio in and out from a presumed 738-BEL2. Sunrise enhancement kicked in around 1345 here, causing 594-JOAK, 693-JOAB, 747-JOIB, 828-JOBB and 972-HLCA all to rise up to very good levels in and out, and also give a boost to the mid-band Chinese stations. At 1350 I tuned in to 1044 expecting the usual CRI Japanese service but heard fair-level Korean instead, and 1035-CNR1's echoes were weakly audible in the domestic splatter. 603-HLSA and 738-BEL2 both had several fair peaks before the 1400 TOH but couldn't maintain much sustained energy, while 972-HLCA briefly hit an S9 level with Korean female speech and 1355 (as the strongest Asian of the session). After the 1400 TOH there was a repeat of yesterday's potent run from 657-Pyongyang, with the wacky station hitting a very good level around 1407 with bizarre female vocal music. As Dennis has also noticed the signals from 657-Pyongyang seem to be dramatically stronger this season compared to last, making me wonder if the hermit country has surreptitiously boosted its transmitter power (it doesn't care much for international rules and regulations). Like yesterday Pyongyang bailed around 1415 with the NHK big guns and 972-HLCA, which was the last one standing around 1420. 657 Pyongyang B.S. Pyongyang, N. Korea Spooky female vocal music at very good level at 1407; sounding like a Halloween movie sound track (a little early) https://app.box.com/s/imx8nmn8m9g05fqqgjf6njitfcllm5q5 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) 7.5" loopstick C.Crane Skywave Ultralight + 15" FSL antenna ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Conditions were good as well here, Bill, with a potent sunrise enhancement boosting up the Japanese and Korean big guns, as well as several second-tier Korean stations.
