[IRCA] TP 22 Jan Victoria version
Considerably livelier today, mostly from Asia. Low band was fairly active 1300-1330UT, then a bit of a rest until after 1500UT pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 774 JOUB English lessons 1437UT; this one seemed less affected by the dry period from 14-15UT 1566 HLAZ woman in Chinese after vocal music 1543UT Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 747 JOIB English lessons 1503UT and for several minutes following not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 594 JOAK man in Japanese 1314UT 828 JOBB woman talking //774 1302UT 972 HLCA woman in Korean 1547UT 1593 CNR1 man in Chinese //6125 1542UT Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 612 man talking, DU English inflection, 1432UT, likely 4QR 693 JOAB English lessons //774 1439UT 711 unID. Strong carrier 1300UT, then a 5 second break in KIRO splat yielded a man talking, no hope for language, pips etc. HLKA has been heard before, so assumed under these conditions Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) 873 891 918 1089 1323 1503 seemed to be Asian; 702 738 more likely DU best wishes, Nick ___ ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] Limited Colorado TP Activity
--- Begin Message --- Jan 22 TP activity consisted of weak, but steady carriers on 594, 747, 774, 828 and 1566. Listened from 1310 to 1355. 1566, presumed HLAZ lasted the longest, until 1355. No audio heard. It was a welcome assortment of carriers, best in a while. [IRCA] Alberta TPs for 22 January 2017
Given recent conditions, this morning's traces of Japanese audio here and there was quite welcome. 594JOAKTokyo, JAPANWas best at 1359 with traces of talk, then time pips at 1400. 693JOABTokyo, JAPANTime pips at 1400, but that was it for audio. 747JOIBSapporo, JAPAN Talk by woman at 1458. 774JOUBAkita, JAPANTalk by woman at 1458, //747. 828JOBBOsaka, JAPAN This one was also audible at 1400 and 1500, but was best at 1300 with man and woman talking prior to time pips at the hour. 1386NHK2synchros, JAPAN Time pips heard at 1500, but that was it. There seemed to bit a bit of lift near sunrise, but only to the extend it strengthened the carriers (which were actually quite numerous) for frequencies higher than about 1100 khz. Lower down, the Japanese big guns seemed be quite steady, fluctuating around the "barely there" audio level from about 1200 to 1500.
