[IRCA] AM DX Report from Alaska
Well, it was certainly.. interesting. I've been kept inside by -40F to -50F temperatures for 2 weeks straight here in Galena, Alaska. But that's not cold, compared to Allakaket, Alaska which had -72 below. I had Absolute Radio twice today! When I hear it, it's almost always at night. Well, I had it in the morning. This is Absolute Radio 1215khz from 1916UTC January 25th: https://youtu.be/FgSgxPJSQ1o Here's how Absolute Radio 1215khz sounded at 0338UTC January 26th: https://youtu.be/4qcIW7PJSuk I have NO idea who this very loud yet weak spanish station on 1700khz is that was recorded at 0323UTC January 26th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck5Ro458mow KKLF Richardson/Dallas, TX is Tejano, I guess this could be them! Here's KUIK 1360 Hillsboro/Portland, Oregon at 0339UTC January 26th coming out of a commercial break back into a syndicated talk program. It's very weak but at one second, you hear KUIK and a few seconds later "Westside Talk Radio" Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h2VXQBbrkA This is KITI 1420 Centralia, WA with oldies music and weather forecast by the local DJ at 0344UTC. Recorded at 0328UTC on January 26. Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UALU-RXE0T0&t=3s Now, here's one that was initially a mystery and very odd! 1050khz, recorded at 0359UTC January 26th. Sounded like country music. Top of hour came and no hard fade of the song for an ID and news of any kind. About 0402, the next song rolls with again, no id, liner or anything. I have the SoundHound app and it ID's the song as Carrie Underwood's "Dirty Laundry". I do some sluething around and in less then 2 minutes, I've found my answer! Thank goodness for "Recently Played" music logs on stations website. turns out my 1050 mystery is CJNB North Battleford, Saskatchewan. [IRCA] TP 25 Jan Victoria version
Not a great morning, though did get some brief good audio on a couple of channels. Pretty much all Asia, and a small sunrise enhancement. Most of the signals were noted 1300-1400UT pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 774 JOUB man in Japanese, woman in Chinese, 1359UT, pips on hour 1575 VoA woman in SE Asian language 1540UT, VoA jingle 1542UT Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): the above passing through not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 594 JOAK woman and man in Japanese 1332UT 828 JOBB man in Japanese éé747 1317UT Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 747 JOIB man talking //774 1329UT, then flute music 954 man talking, Japanese inflection 1341UT 972 HLCA likely; instrumental music, pips on hour 1359UT 1242 woman talking Japanese inflection 1333UT 1566 HLAZ likely; woman talking, Chinese inflection 1538UT, made several reappearances before fading for good, about an hour after this. Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) 657 891 seemed to be Asian; 1098 seemed DU during the time I listened best wishes, Nick ___ ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Re: [IRCA] S. AZ LWBC Tuesday night
Are these unusual on Cape Cod, Marc?I seem to recall that MW stations weren't always as strong as I expected the couple of times I've worked at that location, but that was usually later in the evening. best wishes, Nick At 14:40 25-01-17, Marc DeLorenzo via IRCA wrote: Here on Cape Cod, Algeria-252 good at 2247 UTC in French and Iceland-189 good 2250-2300 UTC with hard rock and man in Icelandic taking a long phone call. At any rate, about the same as last night (nice to have better conditions). 162 data warble strong at 0144 utc. 171 and 252 both with fair talk same time; again at 0256 utc (but 162 gone then). Re: [IRCA] Oklahoma TP DX
I'm sorry for the blank message. I mistakenly hit 'send' while typing the subject line. Unfortunately it was a morning without anything TP being heard here. There was only a trace of a signal on 1566 at 1313-1319 which faded away well before sunrise. Richard Allen, near Perry OK USA, Skywave & FSL.
