Re: [IRCA] not so UNID 800

2017-05-06 Thread James Renfrew
Glenn,

Doh! How did I miss that one in the WRTH? I must have been looking right
at it, but it was hidden in plain sight! There was definitely an FM
reference. I ruled out "RTM" as the time as it sounded very clearly as
"RCN", but I've been wrong before. I may have to listen to the podcast of
that program on TWR (shudder) to see if they give that ID at 15 minutes
past. I found a series of TWR FM outlets on the web page that included
103.7 in Bogota, as I recall.
Thanks for your help. A rare night for me with CKLW off, not sure when
I'll get the chance again. Jim Renfrew

800 "RCN" Spanish language, announcing "RCN" and "RCN.org". Heard a
few more of these IDs at 2115, too, which also mentioned "103.7" ( I
think). A web search on "RCN.org" diverts to spam. Now, I suppose this
must be TWR from Bonaire. Spanish language WNNW in Lowell MA is doing
music, not talk. The TWR web site indicates a Spanish music program at
this time, not the talk I've been hearing occasionally bubbling up. I
guess TWR is no longer on shortwave, since the website only mentions AM and
FM broadcasts (one of which is 103.7), so no parallel possible. The website
offers live audio, but it appears that this means you can select podcasts
of the various programs, not live.

Jim, Check the WRTH or other listings.

On 800 is 100 kW HJBW, Bucaramanga, Colombia, RCN! Presumably stands or stood
for Radio Cadena Nacional.

No reply; not sure he accepts this, based on the // FM 103.7? Now it occurs to
me he might have really heard ``RTM`` as in Radio Transmundial. But I find only
89.5 mentioned at http://www.twrbonaire.com and I can`t find any FM for 800 HJBW

That's an interesting number, Walt. About 200 minutes for a couple of weeks
means less than 15 minutes per day. It's clear you don't have the incurable
disease I and others have of recording a lot to dig out all that can be dug
out.

2017-05-06 Thread Mark4
YES to both, Kaz. I'm at the cabin, listening to 354 Gb of SDR recordings
taken in the desert with Nick Hall-Patch a couple of weeks ago.

No antenna up yet; need some encouragement!

Cheers!

Re: [IRCA] ESPN

2017-05-06 Thread billy brooks
Other than the everpresent noise floor, this is my 2nd complaint of mwdx in
the 21st century. Once we got rid of "radio Disney" in the band, my hopes
returned to the
"Good ole' days" of the '50's thru mid '60's. now it seems espn types
flagrantly violate the hourly (min.) id. And there is still no enforcement.
Maybe what needs to be done is enforcement: "at the open end of the
musket"!

Unfortunately, too many of them don't always break for ID as Paul says.
Perhaps you have more than 6 minutes recorded and can hope for a local break
prior to :58 or after :04?
