[IRCA] Domestic MWDX to Enid OK, August 31-September 6, 2018

All times and dates strictly UT [4 hours ahead of `ELT` during EDT; when
changing times one must also change the dates for events in the 00-04 UT period
to the previous date by ELT].

Rx: mostly DX-398 with internal antenna only or PL-880; NRD-545 with ALA-330S
inside E-W or inside randomwire N-S; Nissan stock caradio as specified; IC-R75
with E-W longwire.

These logs are excerpts from my daily all-band reports, mainly SWBC, also
VHF/UHF, sometimes, utility, ham, which may be found in several archives
without much delay, such as
http://www.hard-core-dx.com/index.php?topic=Hauser

And compiled weekly along with extensive news from many other individuals and
publications in DX LISTENING DIGEST:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxldmid.html

All my MW DX reports starting August 2011 are archived in this forum with open

These logs are [potentially] in four sections, Canada [if any], Oklahoma [if
any], rest of USA [if any], unidentified [if any], separated by === Within
each, they are in frequency order

** U S A. 870, Sept 1 at 1200 UT, Spanish loops E/W, only catch
``870`` in ToH ID, into sports talk, making SAH of about 9 Hz with WWL
remnant to 1207 UT fadeout. This all points to KLSQ Whitney NV (Las
Vegas), 5000/430 watts U2, ESPN-D. Official FCC September sunrise is
1315 UT, so should have been on 430-watt night power and direxional to
the NW --- but I bet it`s really 5 kW ND day pattern. No PSRA for it
is known to the new NRC AM Log. Of course I was looking for XETAR;

[IRCA] 837 (Cape Cod, MA, USA - recent logs)

2018-09-06 Thread Mark Connelly via IRCA
--- Begin Message ---

Chuck, thanks for your information on this. It appears to be correct via two
sources.

http://www.mwlist.org/mwlist_quick_and_easy.php?area=1&kHz=837

http://kiwisdr.sytes.net:8073/

The second link above is for the KiwiSDR located at Tenerife, Canary Islands.
Though far from sensitive, it should have some evidence of a signal on 837 by
day if the station is active. It didn't.

I probably should have been clued in by 837 not being competitive strength-wise
with 621 when conditions were skewed southerly. This wouldn't be the case if
837 was active from the Canary Islands as well as Spain.

The affected log, therefore, should be amended to read:

837 | SPAIN | COPE synchros, AUG 24 - Pop vocal, 5+1 pips, news in
Spanish; fair to good. [Connelly*Y-MA]

General notes for 1100 UTC on 26-Aug-2018:

G3 geomagnetic storm in progress. Also, semi-local t-storms at the
time,
which pretty much killed the bottom third of the band. Local sunrise
was

1104 UTC. So not only did I have auroral conditions, but also sunrise
enhancement.

Antenna: 140' D-Kaz aimed south
Radio: Perseus receiver
Software for spectrum recording: HDSDR (was trying out the new beta)
Location: Northern Indiana (Goshen / en71ao)

All new logs unless noted. All 1058-1100 unless noted.

580 XEMU Piedras Negras, Mexico, relog
Dominant and good signal before 1100, with reg. mex. music, then
singing ID
at toh "La Rancherita Del Aire". Fading after toh, until WILL took
over.

590 unid Mexican?
1058-1108
Only hrd "La Mejor", which could be about anybody. Two Mexicans show
that as
their slogan on MWLIST - XEBH and XEFD. Lively reg. mex. music, strong

first, then fading until almost gone at 1108.

620 XENK(tent) Guadelupe del Monte, Mexico Hrd. "Cadena Rasa" several
times
for ID, which shows tied to 620 AM XENK in internet searches. Mexican
N.A.

played after ID until lost to WTMJ.

660 XHEP(?) Aguascalientes, Mexico, relog of XEEY but with new call as
part
of the Mexican Call Sign reassignments? Pretty sure of the XHE but
after

that it could be G,P or E. It wasn't Y, which is what the old call sign
ended with. Besides the call ID, heard the following: "102.9 FM", "en

For those who are looking for a hot performing SSB-equipped travel
portable, a "Heathkit-like" full construction article has been prepared for a
7.5" MW loopstick XHDATA D-808 model-- a "Supercharged" version of the highly
popular new portable from China.

The 7.5" loopstick D-808 version was a thrilling performer all by itself
at the Rockwork ocean cliff near Manzanita, Oregon last month, receiving not
only this fine signal from 1017-A3Z in Nuku'alofa, Tonga, but the 5 kW
Australian horse racing station 2KY in Sydney as a weak co-channel in the
middle of the recording
https://dreamcrafts.box.com/s/tp3i89vky6p7hbylgkk1bp4pa5nvnuku

The 14-page full construction article for the Medium Wave version is now
complete, and is posted at
http://www.mediafire.com/file/vi10rpi974jzlm7/Supercharging_the_XHDATA_D_-808-FinalMW.doc/file

The 7.5" Longwave loopstick version of the full construction article is also
almost completed, and should be wrapped up within a couple of days. For all of
those looking for an exciting new challenge this DXing season, this model
should exceed your expectations!

73 and Good DX,

Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA)

[IRCA] Supercharging the XHDATA D-808 Portable-- Complete Article

2018-09-06 Thread Gary DeBock

The 14-page full construction article for the Medium Wave version is now
complete, and is posted at
http://www.mediafire.com/file/vi10rpi974jzlm7/Supercharging_the_XHDATA_D_-808-FinalMW.doc/file

The 7.5" Longwave loopstick version of the full construction article is also
almost completed, and should be wrapped up within a couple of days. For all of
those looking for an exciting new challenge this DXing season, this model
should exceed your expectations!

73 and Good DX,

Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA)
