Nothing but Spanish (R.Marti) out of Greenville at that time.

Rick, Can you find a shortwave parallel? That you're getting it during
midday eliminates skywave reception, so it makes we wonder if you're
getting a shortwave mixing product. VOA's Greenville transmitter site
isn't too far from you. VOA is not allowed to broadcast domestically
(though obviously DXers find ways to listen to its programs). Jim Renfrew

Any ideas?

Re: [IRCA] IBB Delano and Greenville

2007-07-11 Thread Dan Ferguson
Thank you. The last sentence happens to be correct.

As the guy who used to schedule all Radio Marti shortwave transmissions,
before I decided I needed to spend more time on the beach and in the shag
joints of North Myrtle, maybe I can 'splain sumpin... HF ground wave
doesn't go very far, and skywave has a skip zone. Thus Greenville and
Delano (and formerly Bethany - sigh! that was a good site for Cuba!!) are
used for HF to Cuba. That's why you won't see Marti leasing HF out of
Florida, or even Goose Creek, SC. Too close! I stand by my "Fedral
Thinking". Some of us who worked for the Feds gave a %^$%^$^%$! Many still
do!
