Re: [IRCA] Boston's Real Jazz WZBR 1410 on air
Great report, Mark, but what's NL? I don't think you meant Newfoundland, which, AFAIK, is NF and could well be what you meant. I thought NL was Nuevo Laredo (Mexico), which must be 2000 miles away. Is that what you _really_ meant? The station did not identify at the top of the hour (e.g. 11 a.m.) but finally around 11:10 a.m. a male announcer ID'ed as Boston's Real Jazz, 1410 WZBR. That would be WIBA, not WHA, which is on 970, and despite being one of the four or five oldest broadcast stations in the US, remains a Class D AM. - Dan Strassberg ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) eFax 1-707-215-6367 ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] Radio Disney
Willis wrote that WQEW was his favorite station back when William B Williams was on it. I don't think Willam B ever was on WQEW. For many years (decades, actually), he was on the old WNEW (AM) 1130, which was the predecessor of WQEW. When WNEW became WBBR and what had been classical WQXR 1560 took over the fomat and assumed the WQEW calls, many of the WNEW air personalities moved from 1130 to 1560--Jonathan Scwartz may have been the best known personality to make the move. By that time, however, I'm pretty sure that Willaim B had either retired or passed away.
