I'm in Toronto tonight, where I actually need the station. But of course 
this weekend is the only time I was able to take the car in for some brake 
work etc needed in time to use it this week to get up to Burnt River for 
the E-skip season (which has started on FM, BTW). So the only radio I have 
is a car radio adapted for indoor use for FM, which I have here for FM. 
I've never DXed AM on it. So will see how I fare. 1430 local is a mile 
away - we'll see...

City 1978-1982 I've been in the Rochester area ever since.  I also have a 
log book for New Canaan CT (1967-1971) and Severna Park MD (1972 
sporadically through 1982 while in college and after).  I have also 
maintained a log book for Raleigh NC where my parents have lived since 
around 1983 or so, but haven't added too much to that one in recent years.


Almost logged #2500 a few minutes ago, but WLEC 1450 Sandusky OH is already 
in the log book!

audio (music and announcements), but since this could have been a satellite 
feed with local calls inserted (the "Hank" ID was too soft to hear on the 
radio, but very clear on the web audio)  I hesitated to count it as a new one.  

22261450WHNKWVParkersburgCincinnati Reds Baseball, "WHNK" 
ID.   This one didn't get away!  #2499.

I wonder what will be #2500?

Pleasantly surprised to find 950-KXJK all alone this morning at 7:15 a.m.

Makes up for not being able to do much about last night's 'auroral'
conditions.  I wasted a lot of time on 1300 between 9 to 10 p.m. time 
frame
trying to nail down the station with a man preaching in English followed 
by

a woman translating him in Spanish.  There was also a very strong gospel
station on 1360 at the same time.



Also.   550-WGR Buffalo appeared to be off that air as I was driving in to
work this morning.

[IRCA] Auroral Conditions

The noise is like a buzz saw, particularly in the lower half of the band. 

Regional and locals enhanced, particularly Toronto and Buffalo.  All the normal 
East Coast 50 KWers are nearly inaudible 

WCHZ 1480 GA Augusta heard again (mis-reported as WGUS a day or so ago), for 
new calls here.

1140 and 1020 with Spanish, but very poor.

to pattern change I suspect.  A new one, though logged and QSLed on FM some 
years ago.  Listed at 15000 watts before pattern change.  For stations away 
from hitting 2500 station on Medium Wave.
