Not as much sign of China today, and not much sign of anything to replace it either. There were a couple of signals that still kept popping up an hour after local sunrise, 1287 and 1566, but not much else. Oh, and CNR 'X' on 1215 heard yesterday seems to have been CNR7 per the webstream recommended by Chris Kadlec awhile back. The same slow music is heard after the Beijing time check on the CNR7 stream, and that leads into further ID details, but not on my rough recording. Glad to hear that Richard heard a carrier on 702 kHz...I think he must have heard most of the signal that was available for North America. Re: [IRCA] TP 8 Apr. Victoria version
I hate to say this, given what the Rockworks guys were (not) hearing, but it was actually a pretty fair morning here for Asiatics at this time of year, though some of the DX was noted before 1300UT. I'll keep the files from 1300-1330UT for awhile, in case any comparisons need to be made. Well, Nick, you shouldn't feel entirely sympathetic to the Rockworks guys. More life insurance might be a good idea after I post this morning's report. 73, Gary -Original Message- From: Nick Hall-Patch n...@ieee.org To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Tue, Apr 8, 2014 9:31 pm Subject: [IRCA] TP 8 Apr. The Asiatics were back this morning, though mostly the bigger guns, and fading quite erratically. Having said that, some of the second string took advantage of the erratic fading too, you just had to be there, and without the SDR recording to back me up, I'd probably have missed them. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): none quite there today reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 594 JOAK woman in JJ 1320UT 774 JOUB man w/ weather broadcast 1317UT 1566 HLAZ woman in JJ 1315UT not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 1053 KK jammer 1309UT 1287 JOHR JJ talk, man on phone 1327UT Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) : 567 JOIK man in JJ //594 1309UT 747 JOIB man in JJ //774 1318UT 828 JOBB man talking //774 1315UT 891 JOHK man talking //594 1323UT 972 HLCA? woman talking 1317UT 1188 JOKP wman in JJ //594 1309UT 1269 JOFM/JOHW woman talking //1287 at 1310UT Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 963 1323 1422 1593 best wishes, Nick ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
