[IRCA] 1040 Van BC

2009-09-14 Thread bill kral
CKST "Team 1040" is in with new local signal strength again here in Vic( at
least as strong as 690) after some days on old signal and is giving me close to
real time Canucks hockey broadcast as an alternative to C-FAX 1070's 30 second
delay of the game. Are they finally on steady with their new TX operation or is
this still in the testing stage?Bill in BC

Bill, I agree that it's very strong (about S9 + 30 to 40). Now, I compare this
to CFAX, and guess what? It pegs my Perseus meter at 0 dB or S9 + 70. I've
never seen that before (on the S wire with 10 dB attenuation). Wow! Wonder if
it's harmful to keep it tuned to CFAX? .Walt.

Too bad I have a local TIS and San Diego on 1040. Before them (ancient
history) CKST was logged semi frequently.

11-26-09  10:15 PST Victoria BC--- 1040 CKST Vancouver BC is now beaming strong
again towards my co-ordinates with  80% or more strength of local 1070 so I
hope they don't reverse before tonight's Canucks NHL game. Are they testing
coverage area to the south again and  trying to establish this as a permanent
signal pattern instead of the east-west that's been the norm for the past two
months? Does anyone have the heads up on these guys? I'd like the see what's
running now as a fixed operation, making it a near local here in Vic.-Bill in BC

2009-11-27 Thread Patrick Martin
The FCC site shows the regular coverage map and the new ones, but the
new ones look the same as the old ones, but 1040 is weaker here at night
now. CFUN 1410 on the otherhand shows the same pattern day & night and
in the past it was different at night, but it looks like they may be
using the night one all of the time.

[IRCA] 1040-Van BC/1380 Everett,Wa

2009-09-08 Thread bill kral
1040 in Vancouver is sounding like they're using old towers or have gone to
tight east -west pattern today-signal is not as strong here in Vic BC.With 1380
back on 50 KW (34KW daytime?) how did they get back up if two towers are down?
Someone mentioned that the two towers were not live at the time of damage so
was KRKO using different towers for day and night operation?.Without the two
downed towers I guess ether the day or night power is now on for 24 hours.Does
anyone have an explanation for how this was handled and fixed so soon?
Thanks.Bill in BC

Bill,

Yes, KRKO does sound like they are indeed back to 50 KW and is using
IBOC. They are ND days, so one stick would work. They may have some
lower power STA, maybe ND until they get things back. But they are still
strong here.
