Re: [IRCA] 1200 WWV-like ticking sound

2007-11-24 Thread saulamdx
I think enough people have heard this that it might
not be WWV, but this is truly worth considering and if
I hear it again I will tape and compare. Thanks!

Saul,

How about 1200 being an even multiple of WWVB 60khz? I've heard WWVB on
400knz before.

Re: [IRCA] 1200 WWV-like ticking sound

2007-11-12 Thread saulamdx
In our case it was just 1200, and onl lasted a few
minutes while the only computer here was off. I am
sure it was a conventional radio signal of some kind,
and my guess - since the LBI folks heard it on several
channels - is that it is from central or south america
or the carribbean. Perhaps Cuba. Niel in a very brief
conversation about this last night mentioned that
Reloj has some kind of different chime or sound on
some occasions - or something to this effect.

Thanks to folks on these lists who have 'chimed' in.
Looks like another mystery ...

[IRCA] 1200 WWV-like ticking sound

2007-11-12 Thread saulamdx
Niel Wolfish and I were on 1200 last night at 2200 and
noticed a suspicious package on the channel. A tickind
sound that was more remniscent of WWV than Radio
Reloj. Lasted a few minutes then seem to disappear.
Has anyone heard or know of anything like this?
