oddments were brief talk from a man and woman on 774 at 0403UT, RNE?

855 had a man in possible Spanish at 0406UT, also briefof course 774
was long gone by then.

03:10 UTC, and surprisingly, heard equally on my NW/SE ALA 100, and my due
North corner fed loop.  Normally, when 1215 propagates, it's only

20 or 30 carriers into Masset and a good half dozen audios last night. Of
course 1215 was loudest, but never really strong.  Last night was the only
good TA night since my arrival on Thursday.  Asia Sunday morning was
superb.  Other mornings were average.  Minimal DU although pleased to hear

pretty fair at times, but no audio (yet).   1089 and 1107 only other

Sorry Barry.  I fire off these warning shots without thinking about 
it, assuming that the header contains the time 
(UTC).Anyway,   0315UT is when I first noticed the carrier, and 
it was very close to audio a couple of times about an hour later; 
last possibility around 0435UT, then things fell apart.


1089 had a pretty good carrier at times, 855 was so-so; hints on 882 
1053 1089, and an odd one, 1296.

An interesting point, Nick.  I've never noticed any advantage to SW
propagation being near the water, as opposed to MW.  I wonder where the cut
off is?  1.8 MHz, 2 or 3 MHz?  I wonder whether there is any research in
this area.  We're well aware of some really good papers regarding salt
water MW enhancement in the past.  I believe that you posted links to some

channels, because you may be receiving them before others do.

Unlike last night 1215 was in audio quite a bit here tonight too, good 
at times.Wasn't alone as I had 12 channels in total that produced 
audio of varying degrees. Most were pretty feeble, but several were 
quite good.   Vesti on 1413 was the best signal here, peaking around 
0240.  Lithuania on 1386 had a good peak too at about the same time with 
the NHK program in Russian.
An interesting evening, probably time better spent than confirming what 
I heard this morning was 693/747/774/828 and 1566 (which pretty much 
summed it up).

[IRCA] 1215 yet again

[Nick Hall-Patch]

1215 has been making quick forays into audibility for the last hour 
or so, but as of about 0420UT seems to be making more of an effort at 
audible consistency.  There are a few other carriers, but nothing 
like 1215 for strength so far.

I have the Dutch WebSDR on 1215 -- and there is around a 200ms lag on the
stream --

but very clear -- 0458 UTC

I checked here after seeing both your reports Nick and it certainly is
pretty slim pickings here - carriers about but mostly very weak and only
visible when narrowing the RBW on the Perseus. So far this season I'd
expect to see this low level of activity almost every and any evening. So
whatever mechanism is at play it's certainly not favouring us tonite. And I
saw Nigel poking around on my remotes too in search mode...

In on peaks Hold the line Toto at 0158 UTC, Absolute radio does not stream 
outside GB anymore but there is a little button on their website that tells 
what they're playing at any given time, TA's have not been very good here 
tonight, got weak hets but nothing really listenable.

For a change of scene, two carriers on 1215 at 0403UT, separated by 
just over 3Hz (1214.9997 and 1214.9964).   The lower frequency 
carrier seems to fade out completely at times.  Also an audible

15 seconds before fading into the splatter.  Moving over to 963, and
similar occasional breakthrough of audio.  I would have liked to have been
in Masset tonight.  Suspect there'd be a lot of TA audios.  963 again is
clearly heard.  This has to be the best evening in a long while!

   As has been the case most nights of late, a fair carrier on 1215 
tonight, getting close to audio at times.   At times it's joined by 
various others (at the moment 1413 is second-best, with 837,999, 1206 
quite evident too.)684 had a fair carrier a while ago, which was 
reassuring, as the low band TPs have been so poor of late I was 
beginning to wonder if my receiver worked down there!

About an hour later, 1215 is now often a reasonably good carrier, and 
from time to time there are weaker (sometimes very weak) carriers on 
1089, 1053, 882, 855, 1269, 1377the usual suspects

Things have sort of plateaued...

at 0230UT, carriers noted on 675 747 837 864 873 1089 1098 1215 
(solid, but still no audio), and 1269


After a little break to go watch the Christmas lighted truck parade 
at the end of the road (a gloriously unsustainable event), there was 
a few more minutes listening at 0315UT, and the same carriers popped 
up from time to time (1215 now weaker though), as well as 783  855 
again, 909 963  and now a little something on 1341.But, just 
carriers, no chance of audio.

Thanks for the information on the TA's. I checked last night around 0600 utc 
and noticed a level 4 het on 1206. I need to switch the SW ewe to a Northeast 
ewe by switching the transformer to the other end. A fun job on a rainy day.
