Re: [IRCA] 1220 unID w/classical music looping E-W from Omaha

2012-03-12 Thread Rick Dau
If both Paul Walker (on this list and NRC's) and Eric Berger (on the ABDX list)
say that it's KJAN, that's good enough for me.  The "Sunday Classics" mention
that I heard was a definite, and the "35 degrees" part, for all I know, could
have been my ears playing tricks on me.  Maybe the announcer said "45", I
dunno.  Not surprised that I got KJAN, as weird as conditions were last night.
I never EVER hear them here after sunset.  Same thing with KFOR-1240 in
Lincoln, which was booming in here at the same time -- normally, KFOR is mostly
absent here at night.  And to top it all off, I tuned to 700 and pointed the
radio south, inspired by Paul Swearingen's logging of Mexico.  And I got a
mixing product of my locals on 590 and 1290 -- which NEVER happens without a
loop attached to my radio!   Bizarre.

I think Paul is right, the only thing that comes up for Sunday Classics is
KJAN. Was trying to figure out them giving the wrong temperature. The station
website has forecasts & radar, but doesn't show current temp. Might the wrong
temp indicate they are either running an old show? It was 48 or so & they said
35.

Tried calling KJAN 1-800-283-5526 & it just gave me the names of the people
that work there & it said nobody was available to answer call, but could leave
callback # for any of them. I didn't bother. http//:tunein.com when I
went there gave description as Classic Hits, normally meaning rock, but think
not in this case as I did notice a # of stations using Classics slogan that are
classical. 73, George S., MN
